As for Barker, you do know that kids are recruited out of high school based on potential right? He can go out there and preform average, but he hasn't. He has a great build, a good arm, and he isn't rated as one of the best QBs in the country for no reason. He was also an Elite 11 finalist.
Say what you will, but there is a reason why Towles is being redshirted. If you think it's because they want to wait and get talent around him and just tank this season, then I guess, if that's what helps you sleep at night.
Daddy having money can get you there.
IMHO, Kuntz and Houliston are both better than Barker and thats just NKY.
I guess we'll find out in the future.

I'm not Barker is better than any other quarterback in the state, but what is your assumption based on? Have you seen either of these 3 play? I haven't, but I don't think daddy having money is going to make you a highly rated quarterback who had Steve Spurrier after him for two years. Also I don't think daddy having money is going to get him offers from 14 D1 schools that include South Carolina, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Miami (FL).

Barker is not better than Towles. Towles can't get on the field. I've seen all three, and I would put Kuntz at the top of the list.

BCA, I'm not sure who your contact is but it can be no further in the know than who I know. There is zero truth to him having issues with the playbook. Good lord, this is a first year coaching staff and anyone who knows football can see this is a generic offense with no more than 6-8 sets. His options at HHS were more complicated than this offense at this stage. The vanilla offense is not the coaches fault, but going half way through your first season with a 2 QB rotation is! I'll repeat myself, Max Smith threw the ball well yesterday, he got no help from his receivers!

He did have some drops that hurt him but Smith also holds the ball tolong and takes unnecessary losses. He can't run but throw away is better than a ten yard loss.

I'm just sharing what I've been told.
I too thought Towles had a ton of upside, but there is a reason why he isn't playing. I know he had a infection during the summer and a injury recently, so who knows, he may just be behind the other two because of missed time, I don't know.
I was just told that he had problems with the playbook. Maybe it was play calls, signals from the sideline, etc. I don't honestly know.
As for Barker, maybe he isn't what most expect, but he didn't get offered by the schools that he did for no reason.

And Zeke Pike was offered to play QB at Auburn! Now he is 8 deep at Tight End position at Louisville! I'm not knocking Barker at all. He's a local product, so I am in no way trying to say anything bad about him of even guess as to how good he will be in college. But, for his accolades (Just like Pike was so much higher ranked than Towles), Barker is ranked below two QB's in NKY that have not even committed to a college yet!

I didnt see this post earlier, but you are dead on once again.
I have a bad feeling the Barker will be a big flop at UK. I hope hes not, but I strongly believe we signed him way to quickly, simply for his noterioty.

This is what we'll see with Barker as well IMO.
Ranked higher than Kuntz, but Kuntz will be a much better QB and already is.

Joker was a "good" coach right?
He was the best choice right?
Just curious if you still feel that way.
For three years on this site, since day one of Jokes tenure I said he would do nothing but dig this program into a hole it would take years to get out of, while some poster, including you told me he wouldn't.
Just curious if you still feel that way.

Well, obviously I was wrong. I guess I can be wrong once.

Come on, Gut! Can you not ever have a positive outlook?!
Can anyone ever remember a post where Gut had a positive prediction/outlook/anything??? It's not just UK football. It's everything!!
I cannot handle you anymore LOL.

I will have a positive outlook on UK football the day that UK decides to hire a great, proven winner, and put money into the football program. Hiring Stoops isnt going to cut it in the SEC. I expect his success to be similar to that of Rich Brooks. I want to go to that next level of SEC titles and National Championships.
As for me not ever having a positive outlook, I just said the basketball team would go 40-0 and have the best team in the history of college basketball.
Is that not enough?

LOL RIUTG, where do you expect to find a "great, proven winner" that will leave their school and come to UK? We looked as hard as we could and got Stoops, which was a big win for us.
And you don't know that Stoops won't cut it in the SEC. He's already doing so in recruiting. If we get the talent in and he can't win, that will show it. But I don't see how you think all he'll do is what Brooks did when his recruiting so far absolutely stomps anything coach Brooks was able to bring in. The winning will come, but we can't expect any staff that's better than we have now. It's very unrealistic.
