Clay County will beat Knox very badly. Clay is WAY to talented for Knox. I predict that the score will be Knox 6 Clay 51.
Clay will get a real test next week against Scott County.

Since you want to caste stones, here is what I know.... Clay has a QB that is a solid player and he has TWO great tail backs with him in reid and miller.... Knox has NO one who can deal with them and IF knox can stop the run game then they probably are putting to many in the box to deal with HOOKER who is the best receiver in the mountains.... On defense the tigers have the same people AND Gilbert who is a probably the best d end in south east ky....... And the tigers have a kid named HYDE who has been ranked nationally as a solid defensive and offensive line prospect at the DIVISION ONE level !!!!
Now what does Knox have ? One kid (Canady) who is a GREAT player but come one, how can one kid carry a team ? Clay will roll in this one and they may run the table.
No, let's test YOUR knowledge. How can Knox keep this from being a blow out ? Throw your loyalties aside and be honest !

DLine: Diamond is 6'2 280 with great numbers for stength and speed. He did not go to the NUC camp this summer that Hyde went to. He is getting looks from several schools and will be a load for Hyde to handle. Great match up that will make both better.
But that is a small part of the problem for Clay. The will use their best O-lineman to try to handle Diamond which will free up 3 other beasts to wreak havoc with pass rush and run stoppage. Gilliam (Senior) led the team in tackles last year from a D-guard position - 1st in school histroy. He is near unblockable. His partner, like Diamond has started since he was a freshman, turned heads at the UK camp this year, and dominated srimages already with tackles in the back field - Tyler Grubb. On the other side you have a 350 pound bench presser we stole from basketball 2 years ago who still has the wheels - Jake Asher! Hyde will do well to block one and he certainly can't block them all.
Behind them you will find the hardest hitting linebacker in the mountains - #65. His name says it all and Clay will know it after Friday.
I was on the sideline when Barger hit Canady with a 40 yard bomb to beat this same bunch in the 8th grade. Now he has a 400 pound bench pressing RB, Turpin, to help carry the load when he is not tossing strikes to both Canadys. Please double team #4 so both those DB's can watch #9 score.
Look - you have every right to your opinion. Most believe this will be a close game, as I do. Clay has a great team. We are better. We will win. That is firmly my opinion.

Knox does not have the speed to deal with Clay. I would say that you folks in barville are happy about this years team at KC but Clay has been waiting for this team for over a decade. This team at Clay will be the regional champion and will play Fort Thomas for the right to go to state. Knox will lose to Bell and beat Rockcastle only to lost to Bell in the playoffs.
It is always the same with KC, they just can't get over the hump but this is THE year that Clay gets over the hump. Clay will be the most PHYSICAL team that Knox faces all season and they may never recover from that physicality. Good luck to both team but Clay will beat Knox very badly.

Clay had all that talent last year and couldn't even make the playoffs in their district. It's a bold statement to say they are going to run the table and win the region. Granted, Clay County had the most talent in the district last season, and probably the most speed in this region period, but those same kids only got 4 wins. Clay and Knox are two of the better teams in this area and I don't see one blowing the other out, however I have been wrong in the past.

Wasn't Clay Co's WR Hooker out last season with a torn ACL though?

This thread is full of hilarious statements. Where some of these comments come from is beyond me???? Are we basing our comments on the scrimmages at Knox last Friday? If so, you need to know a few things before making these ridiculous statements. Not a fan of either team so have at it. I enjoy reading........

I think they are easyM. The people that really KNOW football would know, NO team last week at KC Gridorama showed anything like they will use this season. Now after Friday we all will know where all 4 of those teams stand for the year. (Bell Co, Clay Co, Knox Central, and Harlan Co)

Yeah 09 I think those who base anything on the grid last Friday are honestly in the dark with what is the actual talent level of any the teams that played.
If it came down to who looked the best in uniforms it's a toss up! No team showed much of anything.

It gets old hearing how teams intentionally lose scrimmages and refuse to "show" much. Look - when 1st team is on the field you are seeing a game. Nobody is going half speed out there.
Friday night will tell that tale.

If you can read between the lines you might realize who the ridiculous statements came from. If you can't look back over this thread and tell I don't know what else to say about it.......Some of it is laughable.
Read between the lines.....Knox wins this game. Hope you get it now.

This game want be close, Knox is the much better team. If Clay Co. beats Knox it would be a huge upset. Knox by 21, take it to the bank. This is the year the Panthers make some serious noise in the state. I have heard how great this team is and a loss to Clay would be major on this team.

17-7 knox

Can some of the faithful Clay Co fans list you offensive line sizes. I know JV Hooker is going to be hard to stop, a very tall target. Spoke to him last night and he said they are very excited about this game and the season.

Knox defense has lived up to its name so far this year. The knocks have been plenty! They will get a chance Friday to show it for sure. And I believe they will!
WOW! :yikes:

Here we are again, talking about who has the best teams and who has the best players. Well just think how blessed we are to have a Bell Co. Team that makes noise in the state every year. Knox Central who is chopping at Bell Co. heals every year, and now rated in the state every year in class 4A. Then the turn around for Harlan county football-back to the glory days of Cawood etc..Clay,getting better every year, and the passion they have just go watch the Bowl they put on this year..WOW. Then love them or hate them Corbin is always a great tradition for Mountain Football..yes they are down this year..we all go thru that..Talk about players, Hyde from Clay Co. was an MVP lineman at several camps this summer. Jeffrey Canady from Knox was an MVP WR at several camps and also WR-MVP at the Top Prospect Camp in Oklahoma.. Clay Co., Reid one of the top backs in Kentucky..4.4 speed..Davenport from Bell will set records if they give him the ball more..The Lewis Kid from Harlan Co. man Beast...will hear alot from him in the next couple years..I know I'm leaving some kids out, thats my point, we forget what and who this is all about, the Kids..I'm just Blessed we have the Teams and the players that we can talk about all over the state and be proud of Mountain Football.....Good Luck Guys and Go Team............
