The Iceboxx Wrote:In my eyes, this has to put Elisha Justice in the lead for Mr. Basketball. I've thought all along if Sewell made a deep run in the playoffs, that the award would be his, and vise-versa for EJ. I can't see Anyone keeping Shelby Valley from Rupp, and the wildcats have a very favorable draw and look to be favored to appear in the final four. The longer that Elisha Justice plays will Sewell is sitting around watching; the more votes Justice is going to get.
Jon Hood never won a postseason tournament either and still won Mr Basketball last year. The 7th is brutal. Coaches aren't going to punish Sewell for one loss. He has proved all year he was the best player in the state against better competition than Justice. Let's keep this thread on the game though and not another Sewell/Justice debate.
Male is a very solid team team as well. I didn't expect T to lose but look how close the Dogs had played the Rocks in the first two meetings. Not a major upset at all IMO.

I recall that Male is about 20th ranked in the Lit ratings. They had a mediocre record but played a brutal schedule.

So how much does this hurt Sewell's chances for Mr. Basketball that he didn't even make it to State?

Just want to say, congrats to Trinity for an amazing season! Hard loss but to even get through that region is a amazing. Great job guys.

Scotty doesn't know Wrote:MAN!!! Wow I did not see this one. I guess Trinity was not as solid, and strong as I thought. I really think that this region was loaded from top to bottom but for Trinity to get beat by Male takes the upset award. At this point I will say that Ballard will win it but man if J-town could creep up or Male , this region may have a huge underdog in the final.
I wouldn't discount Manual. In the fourth quarter Manual was beating Ballard at Ballard when Samsel went down with his injury earlier in the year.
The big man 6' 10" Nicolic is really playing well as of late and will cause Ballard problems on the inside. Since Samsel's return from injury this team has put it together and playing well. They put a 7 game win streak together at the end of the year with wins over Iroquois, Seneca, and Jeffersontown. This team has the fire power to get it done, but they don't have the athleticism the Ballard squad has at their disposal.
