I can see them starting possible 3-0 going into the Johnson central game. But that game will determine how they will finish . They don't have to win this game just have a good showing. If they do lose ( I think they will ) to JCC they have to rebound quick because I think breathitt co is going be a team that surprise people. The last half of the schedule looks pretty brutal . PCC needs to be healthy and on the up swing to finish 7-3.

The ability to replace the quarterback will make or break PCC. If anybody can get a quarterback ready to go it is Haddix.

zaga_fan Wrote:Tates Creek scored 50+ points in one game out of 11 last year in a losing effort to Harlan County.
And if I remember correctly, Harlan County had some issues on defense the first couple of games last year.
They struggled against the Redhounds in Corbin.
The mighty Bert Browne even dealt Tates Creek a loss last year.
I don't think Tates Creek will lose to Perry Central...
but if you "don't know a bunch about PCC", then what makes you think that Tates Creek can hang 50 points on the scoreboard when they play em?
Tate's Creek will be a Top 10 team this year. Bringing back almost it's entire roster. 23 seniors. Also, Creek blistered PCC and completely overmatched them in a 7 on 7 tourney at UK. Things change when all 11 hit the field, but don't be surprised to see a bunch of points.

They may very well be a Top 10 ten and take care of business handily at Perry this year...
But I put as much stock in the outcome of a 7 on 7 scrimmage as I would a thumb wrestling tournament.
I watched tape of them playing Harlan County and Corbin last year and I wasn't impressed.
If they bring that many guys back and they have all improved they may be great, but the guys that I watched play last year weren't anything to write home about.

I understand that you feel that way. And I got no problem with that. I guess 1st team all staters and d1 offer kids don't count as "writing home about". Fair enough.

2013 WYMT Pigskin Preview: Perry Central Commodores
HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Entering 2013, the Perry Central Commodores will be facing a much bigger task than improving on last season's 4-7 record. They will be looking to replace more than 4,100 of total offense, including leading passer and rusher Austin Pray.
"Anytime you're going to replace a big time athlete like Austin Pray, he ran for 1,300 yards, was the first 1,000-yard rusher since I've been (at Perry Central), and he threw for over 2,000 (yards). He accounted for a lot of touchdowns and he really hid some things," says head coach Justin Haddix. "If we struggled up front, he hid that and made some plays out of broken plays and made me look like a lot better coach."
"First off, we got to replace Austin (Pray) because he did really good at quarterback last year," adds Tyler Fugate, a senior wide receiver/safety, "but Seth (Napier) has been working hard; he's been doing good."
"We got a bunch of good skill players; Nathan Pray and Seth (Napier), I think he'll be pretty good this year at quarterback. All together, if everybody works hard as team, we'll be okay," says senior Joey Sams.
With new play makers coming in on offense, solid offensive line play will be key.
"Well it's definitely going to be something needed but I think just as long as we go as hard as we can up front, we'll be fine," says senior lineman Harvey Sebastian.
"Up front we're going to have some, it's a good mixture of old and young guys," adds Haddix. "We got three seniors on that front. We're going to have a mixture of some sophomores and maybe a freshman on there, but really a good mixture that works well together and that was something they kind of said they feel a little more together."
The defense expects to be better as well.
"We got a lot of young kids but I think we'll be alright this year with them," says senior linebacker Devan Brewer. "We're going to be tough, strong. Big hearted."
Perry Central opens their brand new stadium at home in week zero against the Clay County Tigers.

Tates Creek won by 1 or 2 scores but they sure as hell didn't 'blister' or completely overmatch them, you're very wrong about that. Looking forward to playing Tates Creek, good early season test.

Zaga looks like your going to have to hold the fort down in the Perry threads this year. Maybe if they can start out 3-0 you will get some of that band wagon help. If not your going to have to take the blunt of the trash talk this year .
