That is a tough schedule. A .500 year would be a good year in my opinion after losing 7 starters. PCC usually has good athletes though, they may just surprise everybody this season. I see four games I really don't see them winning, but the other six depends on how they gel and play together this season. You never know until the season starts and you play other teams how good or bad a team will end up being. I would say winning the district would be a big feat to accomplish with Harlan Co being so experienced again this year. I also think the loss of the BIG RB (on off and def) for Whitley will take its toll on them and they will struggle more this year than last year. Once again, you never know til the season starts. Good luck PCC.

5-5 is the worst possible scenerio. 7-3 is the best scenerio. No one knows how good Letcher Central or Breathitt will be this year with the coaching changes. You can guarantee, Haddix will get the most out of his young Commodores. Good Luck PCC, I hope you prove me wrong and go 10-0.

I have to agree with someone above, a 4-6 season with that schedule would be the best they can shoot for, possibly 3-7! Good luck to them.

You guys are crazy, all of those teams have been good in the past, but that doesn't mean they are going to still be powerhouse teams next year. They all lost a lot of key people at key spots. PCC has some great talent and will be 3-0 going into the Johnson Central game, and if they can pull that one off, I see them being 6-0 going into the Whitley game. The only other team that should beat them is Harlan County. So I see them being 8-2, or if Johnson Central beats them, 7-3.... with losses to (Johnson Central, Harlan, and Whitley)
04-19-2013, 02:44 PM
I'll go 4-6.
Austin Pray and Kegan Robinson are very big losses.
That's 2,000 yards rushing out of about 2,200 for the entire team.
Maybe the JV group was really good, but someone said earlier they barely played any games. I don't think they played Harlan County.

Hope the Dores win every single game though. They lost a WHOLE LOT of Playmakers. Guys with normal speed will have a hard time.
Keys to Perry having a real good year.
Devon Brewer has to get in excellent shape and carry the ball.
Tyler Fugate will have to do a lot of things.
Haddix will have to find someone to help Sams on the line.
QB position? Will it by Tyler Fugate or Seth Napier?
Will there be any guys to just play on the defensive side of the ball?

2013 WYMT Pigskin Preview: Perry County Central Commodores
HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - As we continue to preview our high school football preseason interviews, we now look at the Perry Central Commodores.
The Commodores have a big void to fill in the backfield with playmaker Austin Pray now at Centre College but head coach Justin Haddix says he feels confident in youngster Seth Napier, who will be asked to step in and play quarterback.
"With Seth, Seth has played quarterback; played quarterback last year. He played some safety for us too, so he's seen varsity speed. He kind of knows what the speed of the game is going to be," says Haddix. "He's just worked hard all winter. He played baseball. When he got done with baseball he came in here during and put a lot of time in during the dead period on his own. He really improved a lot. We went to some 7-on7's at UK and he did a really good job leading our team."

4 wins would be a good season for PCC.

4-6 is realistic...
but we're talking about Perry Central, ladies.
Not a great chance that anyone beats them on that new field.
Other teams will be lucky to see a fair quarter, let alone a fair game
Does home cooking taste better on turf?

There's only a couple of those games that I see as definite losses.
Harlan County is a lost cause at this point.
I don't see the Commodores beating Whitley either, but you never know what could happen on Perry's field.
Perry has a winstreak on Breathitt right now and they'll have a new coach.
They've got a winstreak on Letcher and they'll have a new coach.
Rockcastle will be better than last year but Perry SPANKED them.
Johnson Central was close last year and Perry beat them at their place the year before, it won't be a blowout.
Tates Creek isn't exactly a 6A powerhouse.
Clay, Corbin and Pike aren't pushovers, but they are all winnable games.
I see 8-2 as a possibility - but I don't think they go 8-2.
5-5 or 6-4 is probable IMO.

If 7 on 7 is any reflection, Tate's Creek did just that in a Route at the UK 7 on 7 tourney......scored time after time And took the starters out before the half. Barring some players that weren't there for some reason, Tate's Creek will put up a ton of points......

I didn't know they played 7 on 7 against each other. Seen some "Creekers" at some camps and they were very talented.
08-13-2013, 09:44 PM
They played at UK 7 on 7 tourney. Was the 1st round of the tourney portion after pool play. Perry came in 3-0 and Creek 2-1. And creek was up 4 or 5 scores halfway thru the 1st half. Obviously, 7 on 7 doesn't mean everything........BUT the talent difference is very evident. Do you remember who from Creek you saw or where you saw them? I could tell you more about them.....

It seems Tates Creek has gotten a little better over the last 4 or 5 years.
There starting to be really competetive.

Its definitely possible.
Except for Harlan County and Belfry, I look for there to be more parity in the mountains this year from the bigger schools than ever before.
Some like to dog the 6 class system, and while it does lead to one team dominating a class usually, the rest of each of the classes has worked out quite well as far as an even playing field.
If you take away Bowling Green over the last few years in 5A and Highlands out of 4A then those two classes are toss ups most years IMO, with 4 or 5 teams having a shot every year in each class.

Tates Creek scored 50+ points in one game out of 11 last year in a losing effort to Harlan County.
And if I remember correctly, Harlan County had some issues on defense the first couple of games last year.
They struggled against the Redhounds in Corbin.
The mighty Bert Browne even dealt Tates Creek a loss last year.
I don't think Tates Creek will lose to Perry Central...
but if you "don't know a bunch about PCC", then what makes you think that Tates Creek can hang 50 points on the scoreboard when they play em?

I don't even think that's going to be close.
They play early in the season and I think the Black Bears when by no less than 20 lol
But I think that Belfry would also be 20 points better than the next team on the list.
