16th Region preseason picks?

You take for granted (or your ignorance and knowledge inhibits you from knowing this) Serbia was just a small province of Yugoslavia, a socialist republic, until 1999 and continued to be involved in a active civil war until '03/'04, and still has disputes with other former Yugoslavic nations. I know all this because i took the time to research the home place of my brother, Jagos Lasic, who took advantage of a foreign exchange program last year to come to America. We as Americans take for granted the opportunities we possess. So lay off the Serb and Puerto Rican, they're just here to take advantage of a great opportunity that they have been given. One me, you and everyone else takes for granted. Thank you.
Welcome. So are you the shorter brother?

I have a computer too (obviously) and I can research all of those little Euro countries just like you Rockov. Far from third world. It's not like you saved a Cambodian who had kwashiorkor. (google it)

But I defer to your greater intellect.

I personally have been in 3rd world countries. Both Serbia and Puerto Rico are NOT 3 rd world. Both have cities with running water and both have an organized education system. It just seems ironic that innocent little West Liberty would get 2 athletes when they are doing such monumental charity work.

I will state it again, 2 potential players do not make a team. Yes, Morgan county will win more games this year. And yes it will be because of their charity practices. But, they will not be as good as Rowan, Ashland, and the West Carters of the last 2 years. And will not be as good as the winner of the 16th Region this year.

Lets agree to disagree, that Morgan county uses shady tactics in getting foreign students. But the end result is still no Morgan County at Rupp.

I digress to your self righteousness, that being said, Morgan has talent instilled in many other players, who have hardly made the cut to be mentioned on this thread. Everyone will see when all teams take the court to matchup with them. No one has the strength to matchup player for player against them.

While I readily admit, I know very little about the 16th region overall, I highly doubt anyone is quaking in their boots over the machine in Morgan.

I do find it interesting that with the tragedy in that town and all the people who are rebuilding their lives after a tornado incident, that foreigners are flocking to West Liberty because of a flourishing American town where they can achieve the "American" dream.

I just love the internal wranglings of all of the teams who try to cut corners and cheat the system.

I think I'll write a book about it.

I am guessing you have not ventured outside West Liberty much !!!!! Roy

I came here to check opinions on 16th Region basketball....but I suppose I'll take "Third World Countries" for 500, Alex...

Regardless of if Morgan "recruited" or not you can't deny the run they are capable of making. I think Russell will be very competitive, I also think Rowan will have a good year, but right now I think the region favorite has to be Fleming. Russell and Morgan play on Dec. 2nd and I cant wait to see where both of those teams are.

This team has the potential from the 1man to the water boy to sweep their district, and run into the regional tournament with a full head of steam. You can't deny talent...and they have it.

This is very true, and for the guy who put Morgan has 2 guys to defend, did you forget about Jordan Perry and Jordan Whitt?

Lord no, I know I've been involved in a lot of chatter about Lozado and Malinic but trust me, I haven't forgot about Whitt, Perry, Moore, Ross, Burton or Whisman. I'm very excited to see how all of them play, because they all bring something very different to the team. Whitt is a demanding post player to only be 6' tall. Ross, Moore and Whisman are electric defenders who would drive a player crazy! Burton has developed a sweet stroke and Perry can still handle the rock like a upperclassmen. I'm ready for this season to start!

I wasn't referring to you Roy i know you've mentioned the others i was referring to the guy bashing morgan about the foreigners

Watched Morgan County play Saturday at Breathitt County against Jasckson. The kid from Serbia did not look like the player he has been hyped to be. He was slow and looked confused. He might be a player by the end of the year. The kid from Puerto Rico was worth every dime that the Morgan County staff has paid for him. He handles the ball really well and is quick. He had quick hands on defense also.
Overall Morgan County did not look any better than they did last year. Of course it was just a scrimmage, but everyone looked confused and they could not hit open shots. Jaskson lead the whole game and beat them rather easily.

Morgan County may be a .500 team this year. That will be an improvemnt for them.

I watched Ashland scrimmage a week or so ago. They have the potential to be very good come March.

I dont know what game you watched buddy, but morgan led the whole game after the first possesion and won easily, and the puerto rican was adopted through a church organization no money involved just a welcomed surprise. and btw its JACKSON*. final was 57-47 Morgan.

BigBlue22 you are correct, the final score was a 10 point game but when the majority of the starters were pulled Morgan was up between 13-17..

In the interests of fairness, Jackson isn't exactly a powerhouse known to strike fear into their opponents.....

I completey agree, but the final score doesnt reflect the the game as a whole, morgan had a sizeable lead and made wholesale changes to get guys more looks. I was just setting things straight.

I believe that the 16th region will be 3 or 4 team race this year. Not sure that there is one dominate team, at this time. Ashland, Boyd, Fleming and Russell have to be at the top going in. I look for an exciting year in the 16th for 2012-2013.
