I wouldn't call a 3 point win in OT being dominant.

IMO, both teams seem pretty close to each other.

but Congrats LC on the win!!

Second regular season win for Law. County over Johnson Central and both wins have been by three points !! Would agree with NYY10 this is two evenly matched teams.

Grats LC. Having a great season. Big gain from where they where about 3 4 years ago.

It is hard for me to sit and watch a school the size of JC and the talent in the halls not have any better showing than they have had this year. Again I do not blame the kids, and i do not want to bash TM, but that is where the blame has to be, he gets paid to coach. Blame the fans and the adiminstration and the parents and the kids. We have seen a JC coach have to leave the team already this year and maybe a few more leaving would help the program. When you are paid to coach you are paid to produce results not excuses.

Yes he is paid to coach but not parent. I am not saying he should not get some of the blame. However, lets get real the problem with kids nowadays is the parents and kids with attitudes. First of all kids DO NOT want to work at all to get better. Then if he doesn't play then its I will quit or I will transfer. Then if that doesn't work then go home to mommy and daddy and cry about something. What does mommy and daddy do, run to the coach and complain. What happened to Daddy saying if you not playing its your fault. You better work harder if you want to play ( which is what I got at home). If you like where you are at then don't complain. You have to earn your playing time and if you get your chance then you better show someone you should be playing. Man, that was the good ole days. Well I guess those days are over. Kids with attitudes are what we are becoming in all phases of life. I think it it time for Tommy to send them home if they don't like it. I would rather watch a team that does not win a game but busts their tails rather than a team who might win a few games but gives the coaches no respect.

Excellent assessment of the whole situation EE.

Unfortunately, and the scary part of all of this is that these will be the same kids that will be hitting the job trail in a couple of years. Kids dont want to work to get better? Tell it like it is, kids just dont want to work period. They are not taught to.

As far as the bolded part,.......Anyday!!!

One questions, if these kids are that bad how come Jim Matney can take the same basic kids and comptete at the state level in football?

We got the right coach for football, why can we not do the same for basketball?

For the most part, a football player does not have to have the refined skills of a basketball player. In other words other than maybe a "passing" quarterback or a kicker there is not much polish time required to be successful at your position. (However I will say that being able to operate a belly offensive it's an art in its self too). For the most part you have to be physically dominate in hitting, blocking, or tackling to be successful, or be naturally athletic with your feet. Everyone knows I am a huge Matney fan, but how many passing QB's has JC cranked out? How many kickers that can kick like they continually crank out of Bell Co., Middlesboro, or Lex. Catholic does JC continually produce? None on both accounts. And you dont blame the coach for not developing that either. Kids have to held responsible and accountable for how they prepare and develope their own skills too. Kinda goes to show me these same kids dont spend a whole working on refinement in those areas either. As far as the basketball players we have right now, if brute force was what basketball was all about, they can compete at a high level in that aspect right now too. Unfortunately that is not what basketball is all about.

In football, (especially in 5A), a showboat has a way of getting himself humbled real quick by his opponent. The game, the way it's designed has a very effective (legal) gang effect built in attitude adjuster that takes care of that within it's own structure.

Unfortunately the game of basketball in this day and time thrives on showmanship and individualism. Pampered primadonnas, you might say, thrive.

The most successful of all the sports programs at JC is the baseball program. They also use some of these same kids. The successful ingredient that has applied by that particular coach to adjust attitude problems is to bench the player. And if that doesn't get the message across, they go home. He's not always popular with mommy, but he controls his attitude problems the old fashioned way. I've always admired the "we're gonna do everything we can to win philosophy, but we'll dang sure loose with class if that's what we have to do", too. So far, it's worked out pretty dog gone well.

I'm 100% correct on all of this, aren't I?

I am not sure of what you are saying about the different sports, ahtletes are atlletes and should excel in any sport.

If both the football and baseball programs comptete at the state level, why can't the basketball on the district and regional level? Bottom line, the baseball and football coachs have produced on a regular basis.

Kids and their parents and the lazy ways, irresponsibilty, awful, blahblahblah. Geez c'mon what is the deal. JC is not doing well, Coach is great, he is awful, I like him, I don't, it's his fault, It's the terrible parents ??? He is a puppet, no he's not. He plays politics, nuh uh, Football is better, baseball is more sucessful (true) Always the same ole same ole. I find this hard to believe. What a CIRCUS JC basketball has become. I am sorry guys but the coach is 100% to blame, IT IS HIS JOB. YOU DO determine who plays and who doesn't.
