Tennessee will play Virginia Tech[Image: http://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes..._10x10.gif] on New Year’s Eve in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta, and Kentucky is headed back to the Dec. 27 Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl for the third time in four years, according to sources close to both bowls.

Official announcements aren’t expected until Sunday.
Tennessee (7-5), which was not eligible for a bowl last year, last played Virginia Tech (9-3) in the 1994 Gator Bowl and won 45-23.
The Vols played in the Chick-fil-A Bowl, formerly the Peach Bowl[Image: http://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif], in 2004 and lost to Clemson 27-14. They also played in the 2002 Peach Bowl and lost to Maryland 30-3.
Kentucky (7-5) beat Florida State 35-28 in the 2007 Music City Bowl and Clemson 28-20 in the 2006 Music City Bowl. The Wildcats also lost to Syracuse 20-13 in the 1999 Music City Bowl.
Kentucky will represent the SEC and face an opponent from the Atlantic Coast Conference. Miami (9-3) and North Carolina (8-4) are likely candidates along with the loser of Saturday’s ACC championship game between Georgia Tech (10-2) and Clemson (8-4).[/QUOTE]

I will be cheering for Clemson. If Georgia Tech and Kentucky play in the Music City Bowl I will walk to Nashville to see it.

That's a really good point but I think the attendance will be strong for Kentucky again because there are a lot of Wildcat fans in the Nashville area who may only get to see UK play once a year and they will take advantage of it. And the Music City Bowl really sets Kentucky up with a couple of very entertaining possibilities as far as opponents.

I know it's been reported that it's pretty much a "done deal" that UK is headed to Nashville. But...

I still think there could be a possibility that we could still drop to the Independence. Here's how, and it would have to start with Ga. Tech beating Clemson in the ACC championship game. The Chick-Fil-A has apparently already decided to take Va. Tech regardless of what happens, and the Gator, which picks third, wants Florida State. Next for the ACC is the Champs Sports in Orlando, which reportedly really wants Miami. Then comes the Music City with the #5 pick.

So why do I bring up the ACC bowl picks? Because apparently the Music City is contractually obligated to take the ACC championship game loser if they drop to them, and under the above scenario, that's exactly what would happen. That of course would mean that if the folks in Nashville pick Kentucky too, then this years MCB will be a rematch of the UK-Clemson game from 3 years ago. Would the people in charge of the MCB really want that? I don't know, and I wonder if they might decide to take Georgia instead to match up with Clemson.

After thinking about all this, I believe all UK fans need to root for Clemson to upset Ga. Tech this Saturday. Because if Clemson heads to the Orange Bowl, I think UK is a lock for Nashville (and I really want to go there).

More Cowbell,
Book your room for Nashville and stop worrying. UK/Clemson three years ago was one of the top attendances in the Bowl's history.

UK guarantees big fan turnout.. that's what matters to the MCB.

these are the other bowls that have been annouced:

Independence Bowl - Georgia vs. Texas A&M
Liberty Bowl - Arkansas vs. East Carolina
Outback Bowl - Auburn vs. Northwestern
Gator Bowl - Florida State vs. West Virgininia

North Carolina will face Pitt in the Meineke Car Care Bowl.
