Johnson Central 48 Franklin Simpson 0 4A Championship Game

Redneck Wrote:I think me and you had this conversation yesterday.

As for Joe, that kid has a very bright future.

I responded because of Joe's success and future more than because of TigerBlues lack of respect. For a kid to go on here and see an adult using an emoji to laugh at him is uncalled for. The reason some of kids have low self esteem is because when adults show them zero respect they begin to feel that that are not worthy of respect. You and I are in the same boat. Neither of us are respected by the others fan base, except for a small few. It's no secret who I am. THOMCAT is just a user name and if I had it to do over I would have used my real name. I have been a volunteer assistant for 22 years and it has always been about the kids. I could care less about the adults because most of them are a$$es.

You try driving back from BG on 3 hours sleep then going to a State Champion celebration at school and church. While on your way home respond to a belittling ass while driving. See how you do.

Again I want to THANK YOU and Redneck for you support for JC while on your way back from Hazard.

"Failure isn't failure if a lesson is learned." From 1970-2015, Johnson Central learned a lot of lessons on the football field over that time span. It began to rain in 1970.... it started off with some very scattered rain drops. Every now and then, the rain would be harder than before. Sometimes, it would let up and barely sprinkle. Other times, it would be a pretty steady down pour. For the past five or six seasons.... we all knew a Flood was gonna happen, we just didn't know when. Last year, a flood hit... but it we didn't get as much rain as was predicted.

But something was different this year. This year, in the off-season, we had a current football player die tragically. Two recent JC football players passed away. One current player was thought to have a very serious case of cancer, but thank God, that wasn't the case. Our county was hit last year by a severe flash flood were hundreds of homes and three lives were lost. A few years ago, a tornado hit a different part of our county. Again, hundreds of homes were lost and a few people died.

But nothing could keep this flood from hitting!!!! We saw the players in the weight room all winter & spring and hitting new PR's, and then they would call out their teammates on social media to match their totals.

Hearing the whispers of how many players were benching over 300 lbs., how fast our 40 yd. times were, how many players were back out this year, how much faster our team looked in drills and passing leagues...... but what we didn't know was when would the Dam bust.

The first nine games, the water was just starting to crest......
The Belfry game... we saw what really could be.....
Then came the playoffs... and the Dam couldn't hold back the Flood waters any more.

Five games and five dominating performances where JC just 'washed' everybody off the field..... and it wasn't even close.

The 48-0 victory wasn't just a win. That 48-0 blowout was years and years of sitting through seasons of not being able to win a game or being so close & being just a few players away from having a team as special as this one.... from not having 40 people in the stands for a home game back in the 2003 season to having over 2,500 people make the 4+ hour trip to Bowling Green on a cold, rainy Sunday.

The victory parade had about two mile procession of vehicles meeting the team at the County line and escorted them through town and was met at the school by over 1,000 people for their victory celebration. Former players, coaches, cheerleaders, students..... family and friends...... our community came out and showed this team how much those Friday nights mean to us.

Congrats to JC. Western Ky team had never seen that kind of power football. JC was as visually impressive as any team I saw in BG. Great to see a team win their first one. No disrespect to Belfry or Trinity, but good to see another program "spread the wealth" a little.

Very possible! No doubt if continues to progress should be a slam dunk for a candidate and possible join an elite class of KY MR Football winners from the mountains! To have the numbers he had as a sophomore is extremely impressive!
WYMY, WOWK, EKB TV, Daily Independent, WSIP 98.9, The Paintsville Herald, The Big Sandy News.....

All of these media outlets were there yesterday to cover the victory celebration.

Most of the home pages of these have great stories/video clips from the game, post-game and victory celebration.

Point totals for the five district games and five playoff games.....

Regular Season District Games
JC - 256
Opp. - 38 (Only 6 points were scored on JC's starting Defense)

Playoffs
JC - 259
Opp. - 15 (Zero points scored on JC's starting Defense)

Totals
JC - 515
Opp. - 53

That's a +462 point difference.

Going by the point totals, this MAY BE the most dominate regular district and playoff run ever........... by any team in the state.

Congratulations JC
Occasionally God smiles on a community and gifts them with a group of talented kids. Those kids have parents who support and encourage them and the kids put in endless hours of hard work and preparation. They are then coached to realize all the potential that was given them. And just a little luck is needed to avoid injuries. JC be proud and grateful that all these factors came together. For those of us who are in public school programs, it is wonderful to see this "perfect storm" and we all hope one may pass over our school one day as well.
Class 4A was implemented in 1975... only two schools East of Lexington have ever won the 4A state title. The KHSAA implemented Six classes in 2007.

Bell County in 2008.
Johnson Central in 2016.

So proud of this team for bringing back the trophy. They definitely worked so hard to achieve this dream and deserve every bit of praise they are getting now. It may have taken a couple more seasons then some of the fans would have liked but JC definitely won their first state championship in style.
One of the most dominate runs ive ever seen.

Be interested to know how many running clocks they had this year. Seems like they had one the entire playoffs.

January 2017 through May 2017 should be good for JC as well between wresting, basketball, and baseball for sure. Could very well end up winning it all in baseball.

I know more about wrestling than the average bear.... If JC is ever gonna win the state wrestling championship, this is the year.

Geordon, Gamble, McCloud, The Horn twins, Joe Slone, Joe Jackson, Blue, Brady Taylor, Pierce, Rice.... 11 of the 14 weight classes are HAMMERS. If a few other guys come out from football, all 14 classes could be stacked. Winning the state wrestling team title is all about placement points, championship bracket advancement points. I see at least six wrestlers placing at the state meet. Maybe more depending on what weight class they are in.

If Jim wins the state football and state wrestling championship in the same season, they will make a statue for him..... and I'm not even kidding.

Only schools to ever win the state football and state wrestling in the same season.
1989 - Trinity (Louisville)
2010 - Trinity (Louisville)

As far as baseball goes... the Cal Ripken league could very well see the Fruits of their Labor with a large Golden Glove trophy.

JC got lucky. If FS had a couple or 200 or so breaks go their way, they are right there.
mysonis55 Wrote:JC got lucky. If FS had a couple or 200 or so breaks go their way, they are right there.

I agree 55! If FS coulda scored about 6 or 7 times more than JC did the Blowout margin could have very easily been Flip flopped! JC doesn't realize how lucky they were in this one!
Congrats to the Golden Eagles on the state championship and continued success to the seniors in the "game of life" or those able to play at the next level.

Enjoyed the pics and happy to see a solid community enjoy success! Any word on where some of the seniors will play in college?
