About the Sheriff

BlueGrassGirl Wrote:Here is another point...

Everyday there are innocent people who's most basic needs are not being met. The government needs to spend their time and money on those people and NOT the prisoners. How can anyone be opposed to that? Do you not think that the innocent person deserves more than the criminal?

Yes, I do believe innocent people should be taken care of. But as I said before, you can't lock someone in a cell and not feed or cloth them.

@ctd

I agree prison shouldn't be that fun of a place, but c'mon, they have it made? Nobody in prison has it made.
#32
Well maybe not have it made.. But they really don't have it as hard as most people think...
#33
exactly BGG, like it says in the bible, "eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth", you should get what you deserve, this sheriff should set an example for all other prisons, I dont think as many ppl would be in there if they knew thats how they would be treated. Do this in Pike County and see how many people sell drugs. The world is getting to be a terrible place, and if we would revert to old fashioned punishment, it would become a lot better. bring back the lynchin's, people would straighten up.

What's wrong with not having TV? There are people that arn't in jail that don't have TV. I think that it shouldn't even be a law that they have to have it. And maybe the Disney channel will put some good thoughts into their heads.

Tell me exactly why they should be able to lift weights? So they can get stronger and maybe be able to over take the guards....OKm sounds like a good idea

Yeah, there are people in this world who are dying of starvation, but that doesn't mean the prisoners have to starve. They should be able to lift wieghts for physical excersie. And c'mon people, Gaurds have guns, prisoners have no guns. Over throw the gaurds, please.
#37
Gaurds that work with the prisioners do not have guns. So I guess that it is alright for those guys to get attacked by a stronger human and possibily be killed or something. Because there are always other gaurds that can come later with guns. I don't see how working out should be needed. They get their exercise from the labor that they have to do.
#38
If they are getting the same amount of exercise from their "labor" then they won't need a weight machine and they would still be able to take over the prison. So maybe we should take away their labor and keep them weak, also we should only feed them every other day so they are in an ever state of exhaustion, so they won't be able to over take the prison. Because we all know, if you lift weights you can also take over prisons.
#39
I never said anything about not feeding them.....and why exactly do they need to be able to lift in the first place? Exercise....give them a basketball and a field to run in.

And you are saying that they can't take over prisons....it has happened before.
#40
If they are going to get excerise by playing Basketball and a "field" then why not let them lift weights?

And yeah prisons get taken over, but it is rare and it wasn't because they let them lift weights.
#41
You don't exactly get as big as a house by playing basketball.. Nor do you get super strong by playing basketball or running in a field... Liftin weights has one purpose in prison, and that is to get big enough to not become someone's bitch.. And everyone knows they're some crazy dudes in prison, so who's to say that they won't try to muscle over the guard and junk like that..

One thing I think would be very interesting to see, is how many people that have been in his tent village and having to put up with all the hardships they have to endure, how many of them have returned for a second trip, or do they get out, and try to stay out of trouble. If his return rate is less than normal jails or prisons, I think he could be on to something good there. I see nothing wrong with a chain gang or two. We see prisoners cleaning up beside the highways here. The only difference is they are not in chains. But people are not saying that is inhumane to have them out in the sun picking up trash.

i am all for this guy and i wish that he would come to kentucky. prisoners should have the right to food and some shelter but this guy is taking away all of the things that make prison more comfortable than most of those men's former homes and i love it. i think that as prisoners they should be made to live worse lives that what they did before. that is part of going to prison. i am sick and tired of my parent's tax dollars supported these deadbeats. i know a man that used to get drunk all of the time and go out into the public so he would get caught and took to jail. that is pretty bad that he wanted to go to jail so he could have air conditioning, television, a bed, and friends to sit around and talk with. the money that we spent on prisoners could easily go to benefit a family in need. i also agree with the point that our soilders are overseas in far worse conditions and yes they may complain on occassions but who wouldn't?? prisoners choose the lives that they lived and therefore need to suffer the consequences of their actions.
