Pikeville looked like a bunch of “me” guys all night. IMO, this got them beat. They don’t look like a team. Pburg had 1 kid score 50 points alone twice and they still looked more like a team than Pikeville. Until Pikeville proves people me otherwise I have them at the bottom of the region.

Agree with you 100% but the time hasn't passed on Jan 4. We will see where they are in late February and March but it looks very bad for them right now.

If Davis guards keathley he will have a career night he’s not athletic enough to guard.

I think Martin is a better team, but I 100% don’t think Davis can guard Keithley 1v1. I think Estep is their best defender and he doesn’t get enough credit for it. He’s a great basketball player and was a great football player. I think his football strength gives him a huge advantage and we’ll get to see that on display in this matchup. I think it would be foolish to put Davis 1v1 on Keithley. Only trouble Estep might have is if he’s too aggressive and gets in foul trouble early trying to stop Keithley from driving, but if Keithley settles for contested jumpers or tries to force it over Estep and Maynard in the paint then the Blackcats are in trouble.

It’s not recruiting, it’s building a unified culture. I have played for coach James for basically 5 years and it’s obvious why players want to play for him. Playing a fast and AAU style of ball, getting to go on trips such as Tampa and Vegas, and making sure the players like each other. And let’s not forget the success since the new school was built.

So it’s recruiting if kids come to Pburg, but “building a culture” if kids go to Martin? Makes sense.

I think Pikeville will be just fine. Onkst is one of the best players in the region and Walters is a top 3 big in the region. They had plenty of chances to beat Pburg they just missed too many open shots. If their shooters shoot more consistently then they’ll be fine. No need to panic in pikeville.

If my mind is thinking correctly didn’t Martin County get a player from Paintsville just as Pbrug did. Crayson Latterty does that name ring a bell? You can’t get mad when AJ johnson wants to leave Paintsville when a coaching change was made????? As for that when Wes Hager took the job 3 guys I know left that made differences as in Cole Latterty ,Westin Harris , and Logan Hall. Stop with that transfer BS lol.

No matter who the kid is if they think transferring to another school gives them the best chance for success then that’s what they need to do. No need to stay somewhere you aren’t happy. Even though sometimes the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. We should be cheering on all athletes and wishing them all success, sometimes it works out for the best for everyone.

Nothing against the Davis kid, he’s a good ball player, but no way can he contain keathly. Speed hurts him too much in that matchup comparison 1v1. Estep kid if he plays physical enough could make an impact. Ultimately be hard to shut someone like him down. I think cardinals can possibly limit him but no shot they shut him down completely.

They don't have a huge big man like Paintsville, JC or Pikeville, but they've got 3 or 4 6'3"- 6'5" football players who are freak athletes. They play bigger than they are. I think Maynard who normally plays the 5 for them (starting QB in football and also Courier Journal 2nd team all-state safety this year) is probably their biggest player at around 6'5" but he usually owns the boards because of his athleticism. They're a handful because they play very fast and very big.
