Pburg leads most of the game, tried to give it away late up nine and pikeville couldn’t make a shot. Great job Blackcat!

Pikeville looking ahead to Martin Co maybe, but when a team has a player like Keithley anything can happen. Supporting class was great for Pburg today.

Prestonsburg is the hottest team in the 15th region right now. Their new coach they hired seems to know what he’s doing. Outcoached Pikeville today. I don’t think Pikeville is a top 5 regional team. This is their 3rd loss to a team in region and none of those games were on the road. People talk about coaching all the time and bash them when they lose wonder what people will say about the Pikeville staff? They got the best player from Shelby Valley and East Ridge.

HOW BOUT THEM BLACKCATS!!!

Pikeville is going backwards. No team ball. Same story. Bad turnovers, bad shots, no rebounding, soft. Don’t play hard. Tried to flip a switch last 3 minutes and had a chance but took two more bad shots. Settle for jump shots and no one attacks the rim. They aren’t very good right now.

Watched most of this game and all I can say is wow. Never would have thought pburg would have beat them. But good thing is that Martin co won’t have to double keathley if they beat east ridge. Davis and Estep can guard keathley one on one. Pburg also can’t guard Martin co at all. The dream All-A run for Pburg ends Wednesday.

At least they ended Pikevilles first

Gotta be hard for pikeville having a new roster every year, hate that when it don’t work out.

Great job Blackats!

Is Rowe hurt or something for Pikeville? Didn’t see him enter the game and he’s one of their better players.

The 15th Region has a ton of parity and I say this meaning 0 disrespect but it’s way down.

Some very good players but not any great teams

Everybody talking about Pikeville looking ahead but people have said Prestonsburg has talent. It just depends on how much you see of it on any given day. Consistent officiating down the stretch and Prestonsburg wins by double digits. The blatant elbows by Walters every time down the floor never got called. Anywho, Prestonsburg has the talent to compete in this region and now Keathley is learning he can still get his AND have his teammates contribute. And still a lot of season left to keep working.

Taegan slone stepped up huge today! Braxton is finally looking like he’s trusting his teammates and it’s working out. Glad this season is turning around for them

I saw a Pikeville parent say on twitter (X) that “those kids aren’t worth a nickel” in relation to Keathley and others scoring 50+.

1. That’s a stupid thing to say.

2. Keathley was certainly worth a dime today!

Go Blackcats!

That’s sad if someone said that but I think he was worth a nickel which was just enough. A nickel was all they needed as they won by 5

Sykes wasn’t the best from Shelby Valley last year and he wouldn’t have been this year either. Glad pikeville has him to manage his talent. Prestonsburg is a huge surprise and from what I’ve seen can play with anyone in the region along with about 4-5 other teams. Pikeville will be ok but I’d sure hate to be on that coaching staff dealing with what I know they’re dealing with(attitude, ego, etc.)

Yea I don’t feel a bit sorry for them. Stopping taking all the players like it’s the portal every year and you won’t have to deal with it.

Love this for Harold Tackett. Known Harold my whole life and he's a great dude who does a lot of things the old school way but knows the trajectory of basketball has changed. Happy to see it and glad to see he's proving people wrong that said he wasn't the right hire and he would set PBurg back in basketball and force kids to leave the school with him as head coach.
If you need any assistance or want to report a problem feel free to PM me and we will get it taken care of!  Thank you for choosing to be apart of the BGR community!

Congratulations to Prestonsburg! They wanted it more and were the better team from the tip. Shout out to Braxton Keathley, from everything I’ve been told he works his butt off and it showed today. I was impressed with how Keathley and Kaden Allen handled Pikeville’s full court pressure, and the whole Blackcat team for not flinching when Pikeville cut it to 1 in the 4th quarter. Napier, Slone, and others made plays all game. Credit to them.

As for Pikeville, I was afraid of this watching them this summer (before they canceled the second half of the summer season). Very disappointing, still time to figure it out, but it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel for Pikeville right now.

I don't know what happened during the two weeks off for this Pburg team, but they figured something out and went from looking like one of the worst teams in the region to without a doubt the hottest team in the region. If they can keep this level of play up, they can play with anyone in the 15th.

I'd like to say it was very satisfying to watch Pburg pick up a nice win inside the Expo also. I feel like they've played a bad ball, even with some decent teams on that court. It's even sweeter when you can defeat the hometown Panthers there as well.

Big team win... Congrats Blackcats!!!

Keep it rollin!

Good win… just from watching the game I honestly don’t think pburg can come within 25 of Martin co.   I may be wrong but I think it will be over by midway 2nd quarter.

Martin county may have the most obnoxious fanbase in all of Kentucky. Jesus Christ. Nobody cares. Cool. You got a ton of transfers from WV and programs like Prestonsburg have had to do it with decimated middle and elementary teams for the past 7-8 years. Congrats to you for recruiting better than we do.

This right here. I will gladly eat crow. Harold and I have always had a fantastic relationship and it was never anything personal with him. Love the man dearly as he’s been a big part of my life since my days of playing in high school. But I felt like this wasn’t the shot in the arm the program needed because I knew what we were losing from last year and what was returning and wasn’t sure it would be enough to compete without kids transferring in. But I was wrong. I was BAD wrong. This season isn’t a sprint. It’s a marathon. He has stayed the course and found ways to put this team in the best situations to succeed. I’m not one who is too good to admit when they’re wrong and I was. And I’m glad I was because it means this team is moving forward.

Had to like it because it’s the first time I’ve ever seen anyone admit to being wrong on here.  I’m being serious too.

Congrats on the big win to the Blackcats!

No shame on being wrong, brother. The only shame comes from continuing to be wrong when you know you’re wrong.

Like I said in another thread- coaches Tackett and Compton have watched and been a part of more basketball games than possibly everybody on this website combined and I’m glad that knowledge is finally starting to show. Big fan of the way this team is trending the last few weeks. Best thing about it is that this team isn’t even close to peaking yet and we’re already competing with and defeating some great teams. It’s been fun to watch the last 5 games, especially after watching the first 5. Congrats to the coaches for laying down a vision for success and inspiring the kids and congrats to the kids for buying in to that vision. Looking forward to seeing what this team is going to look like in 5-6 weeks!

Pikeville looked like a bunch of “me” guys all night. IMO, this got them beat. They don’t look like a team. Pburg had 1 kid score 50 points alone twice and they still looked more like a team than Pikeville. Until Pikeville proves people me otherwise I have them at the bottom of the region.

Point to where a Martin co. fan hurt your feelings!!!   Obnoxious? For what speaking up every single year when all we are told is that we are the 3rd or 4th best team in the region yet we continue to win it?   You cared enough to put a half page post about it??.  Martin co. Recruiting?  What do we have to offer?  All this beach front property we have? ? The city of Prestonsburg is 20x bigger than Inez. Those NIL deals in the metropolis of Inez hit bigger than Prestonsburg?  Sounds like a culture problem to me??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️. Why are the schools decimated??   You pburg fans crucify your own program more than anyone else ever could.  Maybe, just maybe try rallying around your program and you would get results.   Pburgs football team hires a Martin co kid to take over a struggling program and all these forums had was parents and alumni attacking the guy, all the while all these fine folks from Martin Co were rallying around him and wishing him and the program the best.  Must’ve worked.  Best football season they had in what, 20 years???? Wish Pburg all the success in the world.  Any 15th region team for that matter.  But when a fan makes a prediction about a ball game that is statistically accurate and then you call a fan base obnoxious, it sounds more like jealousy than anything.  Not a good look!

I thought the same. Lots of new guys so will take time to be a team but they sure aren't a team at this point.

Congrats to the Blackcats. Impressed with them. Impressed with Keathley too in that he got it to other players when he was double teamed and they hit shots. Pikeville can't beat anybody when they aren't hitting shots and it looks like they have no team concept. Don't know if they have a very high ceiling at all even with a down 15th region. I hate to say it but Pikeville HC is under performing too. There, I said it.

After saying all that, the Pikeville haters should slow their roll. Pikeville always comes back to bite you in the ass sooner rather than later.
