17 Jefferson County.
8 NKY.
3 Fayette County.
That's 28 team state championships claimed by three of the largest populated areas in the state. That's over half of the team state championships.
This total is not counting the suburbs of Louisville & Lexington. That would add 10 more team titles to the total. 38 of the possible 48 team titles have been won by schools in the three most populated areas in the state.

Do each of these count for a title?

Which one is "the" title?

Are these all held at 1 time in the same location?

And, what exactly is a "game day" squad and what are the "sweet sixteen" squads? I'm not trying to degrade cheer, but I don't know what a lot of this stuff is.

Sweet Sixteen boys and girls championships are what teams do the best among the 16 teams who won a regional basketball championship. They get judged in the first round at the state tournament.

I'm not for sure what Game Day is...

All of those categories are their own state championship.
Eight separate KHSAA sponsored state championships and the boys & girls Sweet 16 state championship. So that's ten different individual cheerleading state championships.

You want to feel even more overwhelmed about cheerleading championships?

"National" championships happen before the state championship and they have even more championships. There are also "World" championships awarded at nationals. 20 world champions are named and I couldn't tell you how many national champions.

As Ted DiBiase would say "Money, Money, Money....."
