Cordia 62 Murray 45 All"A" State Championship
#31
Congrats to Lotts Creek Prepatory Academy, formerly known as Cordia. I am sure the other "just go get a player or two" schools around there in the region have belly ached a lot, but, eh, cheaters never like to feel cheated. Ain't that the way with dirty rotten human nature?

I really don't care anybody's opinion on the matter, the high school I proudly graduated from won a state title and I was in Frankfort Sunday rooting them on. When the sanctions came down many of these kids could have went to any of the schools that contacted them but no, they decided to be loyal to Rhodes, Alice, and the entire community that embraced them and look what they accomplished because of it. They only graduate two Seniors so a good chance they may be competing next year in the All A as well. Many of you think the community hates these players coming in but it is entirely the opposite, many of the families in the Lotts Creek community thinks of these kids as their own and will always.

At the end of the day the 14th has a state title and I am proud to say I am and forever will be a Cordia Lion!

Too bad Cordia and the local community are not as enthusiastic about academcs as they happen to be about having a good basketball team. Cordia is consistently near the bottom in every statistical measure in academic performance at the elementary, middle and high school level. But the school can spend resourcess to assist at-risk, inner-city youth, who also happen to be pretty good at hoops. Makes sense.

Never will I give credit to cordia!!!

All 3 went home to their Parents that live in Knott County! Big Difference.
Combs never moved anywhere, still lives in the same house he lived in when he was attending Cordia. Parents still work at Cordia. Caudill still lives in Letcher County. Oh yeah Justice Dad did get a job at the board of education in Knott County. You don't have to give credit, but they have the hardware.

cordia was placed on probation Combs could have gone anywhere he wanted!

Pretty sure Caudill lives in Knott Co., although he did play grade school in Letcher Co.

Since when in the USA did getting a job and moving your family become illegal?

That hardware and .50 cents will get you a cup of coffee!!!

Just because the receive low scores does not mean they are not enthusiastic about academics. My graduating class had two students who both received full academic rides to UK, and both are going to graduate. People act like Cordia doesn't care about academics but in reality the less students the less amount of chances for higher scores. And another thing, the state had to come in at PCC because of the low amount of college and career ready students, if Cordia has no regard for academics why hasn't the state came in? Now at a small school teachers do get the chance at more on-on-one time with the students but that doesn't always transition to test scores. I know that every teacher in the high school at Cordia really pushes the kids at the school and hold them to high standards and that includes the basketball players as well. My brother is a teacher at Cordia and he is one of the hardest working teachers I ever had and that includes the years I spent at Robinson and the GREAT teachers there.

How much has the school/foundation spent on lawyers past several years?
#46
I bet it's hard to excel academically when other schools in the district banish the kids with behaviour/academic problems to your school.

Blacky, KY and that is in Letcher County.

Blackey has not been annexed by Knott County.

talking about the players being from out of state, or other places of the state. I just going to say this. If PCC track Coach would have taken the job in Bama, my niece would be going to another school next year. he is the first track coach that PCC had that know something about Track and field.
I knew the winner of the Cordia and NNC was going to win the ALL A STATE TITLE. i was telling some women at the tobacco outlet, she said her son play for Cordia.
