Yeah really, why does everyone keep saying it, it's not like we can change the schedule mid-season..

Heard that!

People just need to admit it...Valley is good this year! No one needs to down valley by sayin how bad of a schedule they have..it is what it is.

Im pretty sure everyone has said Valley is good this year, no doubt about it, but they do have a weak schedule, and haven't played any note worthy team's yet. Until they do, and win a few of them, I don't think Valley will be considered the best in the Region

Beating one good team is always good, but Valley will have to beat more than 1 good team to get the respect they think they deserve

Well it's like this. Valley will never be able to make the people happy no matter who, or how they play. Face it they have been the ones to pick on or ditch for the last 4 or 5 yrs. Nothing they do will make people happy and thats a shame. They are good boys and this team wants to play ball, more than I can say for some of their past teams and all everyone wants to do is down them because of the score and who they play. Anyone who has the chance to score is going to do that. What are they suppose to do stand there and hold the ball? That's the reason why they play. Give them a break encourage this team instead of ditching them. They are not the teams of PAST. Also they can't help who is on the schedule thats the coaches fault. Young teams need to build and learn and this is a young team.Yeah they need to play harder teams but give them a chance to do that, and yes they will get beat no one is saying they want but let them build up first. You should be saying nice job not why did you play or do this or that or score this much. This is really getting old ditching Valley all the time.

This is so true, all you heard about teams before was, oh he's playing so his parents will buy him a car, or, he's playing so they won't take his car away. The boys out there now love the game and have been playign it for quite some time now, mostly together. But, nothing they do can make anyone other than the Shelby Valley community happy, and that's sad.

Valley is a good team this season, but I have to agree with you about the schedule....it's the coaches/athletic directors fault. I just figured he'd been smart enough to schedule several tough non-district games. I would much rather play someone tough that could beat me by about 30 and learn from the mistakes you make when you are in tight situations, than to schedule cupcakes that you can just run over and do whatever you want to with. Given it's not the kids fault, they aren't in a situation to pick the opponents....but sounds like the coach is more worried about the W-L column.

I don't understand why some people are so upset about SV's schedule. If you don't like SV then you should love the fact that they haven't played any tough competition yet. Makes no sense to me why you people are so upset about it.
This team starts 3 freshmen. Why throw them to the dogs right away and put down their confidence?
The easy part of the schedule is over. The Cumberland tourny and the WYMT along with Dunbar will be great tests for this team.

Valley is without a doubt a good team, but unless they play some competition early on its gonna hurt them come tournament time. A team like Shelby Valley who has potential needs to play good teams so when tournament time comes they will know how to play in tight situations and pull out close games. IMO their schedule hurts their post-season play when they face teams like Paintsville who can compete with them.

If they beat a strong team like bell co they will get my respect but not the 15th regional crown.

Hey, Paintsville gets their fair share of being picked on too. lol Valley has done well this year, but we can't call them a top team in the region until they prove it. That is not a put down but is reality. Some 15th teams have already played others and proven that they can't be tops in the region this year. But Valley hasn't so you can't say that they are in the top or that they aren't in the top at this point.
It is true that Valley doesn't have the strongest schedule, but like has been said, you can't change it (even though the coaches should have set it up differently). But Valley is getting ready in January to go up against some much better teams than they have played so far and this should give us an idea at least if they are a top team. But only time will tell.
I don't blame Valley for anything and I wish them good luck. I don't think people should put Valley down as weak this year until proven that they are, but on the flip side, I hope the Valley fans won't get on here and brag about being undefeated and blowing teams out until they at least play some decent competition.

Good post. It seems like the more successful teams always get the heat when it comes to pretty much everything. I guess that's because we have a closer watch on every move they make. The game is played 5 on 5 and records don't matter. Valley could just as easily lose games as they win them. I believe the schedule will prove to create a successful and ready team come tournament time. Congrats so far.
