2013 KHSAA State Finals

I didn't see anything about umbrellas.

On page 12 : Umbrellas are not allowed to be opened during play due to obstruction of line of sight for fans and for the safety of
patrons.
Should inclement weather be present, the concourses are constructed to accommodate most of the entirety of the
crowd.

No, each school gets $0.25 per ticket sold, you would think we'd get at least $.50 or $1 per ticket sold to sell their tickets for them. The tickets are actually $9 at the school and $11 at the gate.

For the last three years they have had the games delayed until 30-60 post game. If they go live that would be a great change  Ihigh sponsored by the Khsaa has carried the broadcasts.

So if you can maintain four hours of game news isolation after the final whistle, you are good to go!

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I was telling my wife she may need an umbrella.

I'm sure that wherever you sit, the sky will part and grant you fair weather.

Well thank you purple. You must know some very important people.

no matter what happens during the game, there will be 12 schools and all their fans celebrating the incredible journey their football team has taken to get to the finals. each team has an interesting story

like NCC, a team that started the year 1-3, barely ranked in the top 5 in 2A all season. Fought every play til the very end to beat Somerset in double OT to get to the championship game.

or Scott County, a basketball powerhouse that was always a step behind the Louisville schools till they thrashed male last week.

Are there any interesting stories any of these programs have that fans are willing to share?

The seniors at Belfry will become the first class to ever get a crack at a state title all 4 years, led by quarterback Sani Warren who started as a freshman, had the miracle TD pass that gave Central the 15-14 win in 2011 go over his head (literally nothing he could do) and also was very close on defense of Central's GW pass in overtime last year. Though it won't be against the Jackets, how sweet it would be for Mr. Warren and the Pirates to finally redeem themselves and go from losing by 39, to losing by 1, to being tied at the end of regulation and losing, to winning the 3rd title in Belfry's history.

On the flip side, Tyler Guffey has pretty much led Wayne County to it's first state championship along the way building an illustrious career, coming close to 7,000 passing yards and 2,000 rushing yards.

IMO the belfry wayne game will be the best game of the weekend by far.
#41
WYMT will probably show tape delay on all three mountain school games.

Well, here in Mayfield the talk was that we no longer has all everything Jonathan Jackson and our other stud linebacker Deondre Jackson at the start of the year. We also lost what everyone thought was going to be our big speed threat to Graves Co. We literally had Graves Co fans taunting us by reminding us that we didn't have Jonathan this year and predicting they would beat us. We had our fans expecting us to lose 4 of our first 5 games and have a real struggle with Beechwood and Russellville to get back to state. Now here we are at 13-1.

On the flip side most of us on the west side were expecting either Fairview, Pikeville or Raceland to win the east. Now it winds up being a first time Williamsburg team.
#43
I never doubted you 55. Mayfield just reloads. They have got it figured out. I also expected Williamsburg to be there all along. Their sophomores became juniors this year. See you in Bowling Green. This is the match up I expected in August.
#44
I will see you there. I am ready. Too bad we gotta wait til Friday.
#45
A few interesting facts.

The Belfry coaching staff has had a great run of success. Only Trinity and Highlands have been to the big dance more times than Belfry since 2003. Yes the last 4 trips have skewed the win percentage thanks to a very good Central dynasty from 2007 - 2012.

Phillip Haywood will coach in his 9th State Title (Belfry's 10th overall since 1979) game moving him up the list to tie Mayfields Jack Morris and NCC's Bob Schneider, a win will tie Schneider's 3-6 win-loss record in State title games. For comparison Dale Mueller (Highlands) will coach in his 14th State Title on Saturday and Joe Morris (Mayfield) will coach in his 7th.

DeSales continues a run of at least one Louisville school in the State Finals since 1996. At least one Louisville school has won a State Title in each year since 1996, DeSales is the lone team to try to continue that streak this year.
#46
The streak will continue with DeSales.
#47
I checked the hourly weather forecast for Friday. It looks like the 1a game will be in the clear. The precip is supposed to start around 1p. I am excited about that. You Belfry and Wayne Co fans may not be. Just don't try to push it back our way.

Collins has only been in existence for 4 years and they are already making their second state championship appearance. The senior class has a record of 45-11 with 4 district, 3 regional, and 2 semi-state championships.
