I hadnt heard his name but that doesnt mean that he wasnt. I hear they are trying to assemble the rest of the coaching staff as we speak to get ready for spring ball.

They are no way in the world Coach Norman turned down the job. Coach Cecil is the best for the job. Not to mention Jon Caudill. Is the man!!!! He played at LC which makes him that more interested in success!!!!

Congratulations to Joey he is a good friend and a neighbor of mine, glad that they got someone who has put in his time to the program and is here for good. This guy knows more about the game of football then most people will forget about in a lifetime. He is a class act, as well as a great mentor for the youth of Lawrence County. The kids at Lawrence County respect him as a individual and a coach that is what it takes when it comes to football as well as any sport. On the other hand, the coaches need to get paid what their contract states. I know for a fact some didn't get paid at all so that could have had something to do with them leaving. Bottom line pay your coaches they have families and a living to make. Now it's time to get this thing going. Go Bulldogs...

Congratulations to Coach Cecil and the Lawrence County football program. It seems that the right man was selected for the job.
It is tough on the players when a good coach leaves unexpecedly and the sooner a new, highly qulified coach is named as a replacement, the better, I think, for all involved.
Good luck to the Lawrence County program.

Speed Attack Wrote:If its not made public does that mean the canidates haven't been contacted? If so LC does things real classy and nasty. Real nice for the canidates to find out this way.
I have applied for several jobs in the past.. but have never been given advance notice that someone else was given the job.. before they were notified. This doesn't even make common business since.

Congrats to the BULLDOGS. Sounds like a great hire! Can't wait till we get to meet this coming year. The DAWGS will be a great challange for us in RAM land. Used to love the game with LC back in the day. It was a war for us. Again good luck next year except for the one game vs the RAMS!! We have great respect for LCHS football.:worthy:

Coach Salmons success was with the people he had around him.
One man can't do it alone!
It can only happen with a TEAM effort.

I am very happy to hear this announcement. Coach Cecil is an excellent man and I would have been very upset if his name was not called for the job, as would many that know him as a person. Cecil gained my and many other people's respect for his commitment to our team when he stayed while the rest of Gary McPeek's staff left. I believe he will be here for a long time and hopefully our community and school system will give him the support that he deserves!

Congratulations, Coach Cecil!
He will do Lawrence County proud! You will never find a more committed man to the LC School System...not only in sports but academics too!

Cecil is a good guy, good guys normally dont finish well. its done as far as lawrence being a contender for a while. All that happen here is Johnson Central just increased the size of the recruiting base. Not hatting on them, with paintsville dead, its wide open from highlands hospital to KEP powerplant. Good luck, hope you win them all

Cecil was the best hire.
for those judging by past HC positions, you have to look at where they were. Bear Bryant resurrected from the grave couldnt coach EC to many winning seasons, if any.
When I played under Cecil at Russell, he was imo, the best coach on the staff. Not only that he is a great man, and a terrific motivator. Having a HC who can motivate the players is 80% of the battle. Keeping them in the gym, and having them play to their best every day at practice will lead to more wins.
Personally, he would be my top choice to come back and play for of all coaches in E KY.

LC needs the experience of Burchett on that staff, It would be a huge plus for the program.

Joey and I grew up together, played ball together and there is no Coach in the State of Kentucky that I would trust more with my kids than Joey Cecil. Mark it down, the Bulldogs are here to stay. Everybody better strap it up, you will get your jock knocked off! Joey is hard nosed, hard core, tough minded, and all about God, Family, Football, and so will his team!

Congrats to Coach Cecil. He will do a good job.
