2019 team was outstanding. I believe talent level is equal but I do believe this years team has better size and little more depth

Those are two entirely different teams and has no correlation with how 2019 and 2021 matchup. And if you want to look at it that way. Paintsville won a state title the next year in 2020 so that 2019 team is better than this years 2021 Paintsville team.

Pikeville fans don’t care who would or wouldn’t win between 2019 and 2021. Both very good teams, both have different strengths and weaknesses. Anyway, as for Russellville, I’ve watched a little film and I’ll say this…..Pikeville could very well have their hands full. #7 is a stud. #4 is a stud. And their receivers are long and very very athletic. Once again Pikeville’s edge defenders better show up because they’re gonna try to expose you there. Defensively they remind me of a poor mans Louisville Central back when they battled with Belfry every year. They have a ton of speed. Their edge guys play hard and their Lb’s play downhill. Sometimes they get a little out of position or they even appear blocked but dang they recover quick. I’m curious to see if Pikeville’s run game has a little more trouble establishing their will or if the success continues. I’m not sure RV has seen a line like Pikeville’s. But man they sure are fast, and they’re really not undersized which is what I was kinda expecting. Is there gonna be some big play potential for the Panthers of Pikeville? I think so, RV def gambles a little. It’s a very interesting matchup for Pikeville. I’ve said for a while that I really felt Haz was the second best team in the East, well after watching RV, I really think they’re gonna be Pikeville’s biggest challenge. All these people calling for a running clock, I’d almost bet they haven’t watched one single play from RV. Pikeville better attack this exactly like they should, as a state championship game against their toughest opponent on their road to the goals they set for themselves immediately following that Haz loss last year. This team can play and are scary fast. Practice intently this last week, you Ain’t won S#*T yet.

They had to beat Beechwood to win the championship which is better than any 1a team Pikeville has faced since then as well as the Paintsville team with Kash Daniel on it although he didn't play. That would be like saying the 21 Pikeville team is way better than the 15 team cause they beat Belfry 29-0 but the 15 team lost 34-8. The 2015 Belfry team was one of the best to ever play in the mountains and running clocked Lex Cath before halftime in the finals.

I've seen more than one film on Russellville and i agree that we had better play our A game. Like someone said in another post, "they've got athletes all over the field" Got some good size on the line too. After saying that, i think Pikeville has got this game too. I think Rville has simply outpaced their opponents all season with stronger atheletes. Pikeville will have the physicality that NCC had, which is what slowed their run game down, but Pikeville has the play makers all over the place to that NCC simply does not have. Russellville is probably the true 2nd best team in the state, with Raceland/Hazard being right there as well. That being said, I think this game goes similar to the Raceland game and the 2nd match up with Hazard. It wont be a barn burning running clock, but i still see a 3 TD win by Pikeville.

Pikeville better be worrying about Russellville and that is the only team that matters this week. So young men of this Pikeville team get focused on the task at hand and put in the work this week and go to Kroger field to do your jobs because you can bet Russellville isn’t coming to lay down and let you guys have this game it’s going to take you guys working hard and playing your game without mistakes and penalties to get this job done. Yes, but you don't think the computer knows that too? And I know what I have seen from Pikeville teams for 100 years better than any fan of any other team + 95% of Pikeville fans who have only been around for a few years. But everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm done though, Friday is the only football I care about right now. This discussion shouldn't be taking place because this team hasn't won a state championship yet.

Pikeville will win this one going away, but I will say this from our experience with Russellville the past two seasons. Russellville doesn't have many kids on the roster, but they will have athletes, they will play hard, and they will play like they expect to win. I have a ton of respect for their program.

I am picking Pikeville to win but it is dangerous to draw conclusions about an opponent that has no common opponents with your team. Somebody posted that Belfry and Paducah Tilghman are further apart than Belfry and the Canadian border. Russelville and Pikeville are a little closer to one another but they share no common opponents and computer projections of the outcome of the game could be pretty far off in either direction. 

I think Pikeville will win comfortably but I hope that they are taking Russelville seriously.

I agree 2019 had stronger 1A and remind me the score in championship game. I can’t recall. But let’s look at what this years team had done outside of 1A and I believe that gives them the slight advantage.

Sayre had the best passing attack jn 1A, outside maybe Pikeville, and Pikeville put a running clock on them. Sayre also beat Bethlehem worse than Russellville did. Russellville has nothing Pikeville hasn't seen between playing Lex. Chris., Belfry, and other out of state power houses.

If Pikeville's offense is clicking, this is over by the end of the first.

Just letting you know that the Russellville/Bethlehem game was 34 to 7 with 2 mins left in the game. So I would say that statement is irrelevant.
