Game is not a foregone conclusion by any means. Pikeville better show up with the same fire they had vs. Raceland or they could be in a dogfight.

Russellville Panthers will be somewhat of a familiar foe next Friday. That was Pikeville's opponent in 1987 which was the first of a three year championship run. Pikeville won that one by a score of 28 - 6. Pikeville held them scoreless until near the end of the game as their tailback scooped up a fumble and scored. The defense this season seems VERY similar to that one in 87.

No one in 1A can touch Pikeville. To much size speed and athletes. Hazard and Raceland were best 2 shots at stopping the Panthers. Running clock by 3 rd quarter. Birchfield will have 200 yards or close.

My guess this will be a blowout game. If Pikevilles run game is as legit as everyone says it is and O-line handles their blocking assignments should be no issue. If the D can contain the edge and keep Russellville from getting to open field because they are fast. The Russellville O-line is big but they don’t do much after first contact.

My serious opinion is that I can’t see Russellville improving so much from last year when they weren’t in the 1A picture to the point that they can compete with Pikeville.

I expect this 1A title game to be similar to last year’s in terms of the game never being in doubt and the losing team puts together one decent drive after the winning tram lets off the gas.

 I agree,,, Russellville has REAL good WR's and other skill players. Pikeville could easily lose this game. Raceland was a pretender but these guys are like an AAU basketball team. They got talent, but as a unit they gotta get better. They have a lot of athleticism sprinkled across the field that can hurt Pikeville. This team can go deep and I think there are mismatches in a lot of places. STAY TUNED

This is what a lot of folks dont know about Russellville. The reason they were not on the radar in 1A last year and are in the finals this year is they had several transfers from Logan Co. and 5-6 covid hold backs. Truth is the community and county has rallied around this coach and the program. This is a dangerous game for Pikeville and rest assured this will be no running clock game. These dudes can play and have dangerous speed and height at WR and a QB that throws a great deep ball.  I do think Pikeville is better up front and play a more disciplined brand of football. Experience will surely play a role in this one also.

Sayre had the best passing attack jn 1A, outside maybe Pikeville, and Pikeville put a running clock on them. Sayre also beat Bethlehem worse than Russellville did. Russellville has nothing Pikeville hasn't seen between playing Lex. Chris., Belfry, and other out of state power houses.

If Pikeville's offense is clicking, this is over by the end of the first.

This year's Pikeville team is really good but that 2019 team was 2 maybe 3td better. That team was what I would call special that comes around once every 40 years.
