Bull how would you describe the difference between Christ County NC and Cahokia,
#36
Looks very similar. I’ll have to say Christ school was a good football team. It appears that Cahokia has a couple of athletes that looks dangerous when isolated. I think the pass scheme is giving JC a little trouble. On JCs end I thought they need to go back to the edges on the run behind Bingham, that looks to be there stronger run plays. The second half will give a better picture for both teams. So far it’s been a good one.

JC is just so tuff on the run to stop

That Cahokia team is worth some respect. Those boys are well coached and they play hard. Proud of the Eagles for pulling together today.

I think they'd be top 5 in KY 4A easy.
#47

It will be interesting to see how Cahokia fares the rest of the season. I think CalPreps puts a little too much emphasis on wins and losses and not enough on SOS. Cahokia has lost to three very good teams. They performed very well after making such a long trip to Paintsville. I hope that JC is able to make a return trip next season.
#49
Wasn’t pretty. Cahokia is better than I thought.

Johnson Central 41 Cahokia 21
One thing I’ve learned- and I’m sure you already know- cal preps is pretty good at ranking states by themselves. But when it comes to interstate/national rankings, especially after the top 50 or 100, ITS GARBAGE. I guess whatever formula they use, can’t take into account the entire states level of play compared to other states.

but with that said. I’m pulling for JC in every game but one.  If they can keep their emotions in check and channel it towards the guy across from them, they send them home hurting.

Great win for JC after an emotional week. The offense looks really solid already. The Golden Eagles have three or four really solid running backs to rotate and a strong fullback this year. The defense had a lot of trouble with the speed today and gave up some big plays. But I think they will continue to improve as the season wears on.

The Cahokia team is a lot better than expected and gave JC great test. I wish we could play 3 or 4 more games against competition like them. It would only make JC better.

I think CalPreps does a pretty good job, even ranking teams in different states, by the end of the season. There just are not enough games between states this early in the season for the comparisons to be very good. I am sure that the late season comparisons between Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee teams; and Kentucky teams are more accurate than among states having fewer interstate games with Kentucky teams.

I think that a team that held Cahokia to 6 points is probably quite a bit better than Covington Catholic this season. Both of Cahokia's quarterbacks looked pretty good to me. Their receivers made some good catches and ran well after the receptions.

I agree that by the end it gets a little better. But I think we’ll just have to disagree on how much better it gets. The example you used is what makes me think the way I do. A team that just held the to 6 points is ranked below Cov cath. And we’ve seen here in Ky that Cov cath isn’t that good. And you’re right, it’s because of the sample size. But to me it’s also it’s fault somewhat. Not enough sample size by the end of the year either to accurately measure and rank them nationally. But that just my opinion. In the end it really doesn’t mean much either way.  We could play the #1 team in the nation or the #12,000, either way Ky RPI is gonna score them .500. But I think it was you who said, you get way more out of this than just RPI. Preparing for the playoffs with games like this is huge.

congrats JC

Cahokia is a good team...... they are easily a top 5 team in 4A in KY.

JC needed this win.... the players, coaches, fans, community, the Matney's...... anybody associated with JC or Jim's family/friends needed this W.

This was a great way to break in our new turf... a gutsy, emotional game that we won in OT.

Alex's fun facts of the day...... we only had one OT game on our old turf, it was in 2012 vs. Ashland & we won 22-21.
Before that, our last home OT game was in 2002 vs. Lawrence County, we lost 26-32.
We did go to OT vs. Knox Central in 2010, but that was a neutral site game & we won 29-28.

Hard to believe that we've only had four OT games in nearly 20 years.
