Highlands: #10 in the Country
#91
sstack Wrote:I too think a Boyle/Lex Cath match up would be good. Lex Cath will pose problems for Boyle with their QB who has a good arm. Boyle looked susceptible to the long/mid range passing game. But, I think Boyle will be able to move the ball on Lex Cath also. Want to see a few more games by both teams before making a pick in this one.

I am glad we will be 5-6 weeks in before that game. We should be considerably better by then.

Uh, just because someone defends the kids of his community from hater dorks does not mean their life depends on highlands winning. And yes, highlands is predictable. you can predict that they will blow your doors off. It is inevitable. Inevitable that they win state.

Maybe one day my life will be as cool as yours is. What, are you hang gliding in volcanos and hunting pandas every weekend? I bet you sit on the couch and watch TV tonight, you poser.

The USA Today poll is the worst poll in the country. They literally don't watch any games.

I think all national polls for all high school sports are bogus. It is not possible to accurately assess every single high school in the nation. While it is an honor to be named amongst the top 25 in the nation it is foolhardy to believe those are the true best 25 teams in the nation in any poll done by editors, voters or a computer. As I said from the very beginning......congrats to Trinity and Highlands for the accomplishment but it is not logical for either of those teams to be ranked so high in a national poll. You can call it hating, jealousy or whatever. I call it being logical. Never once have I said Highlands wasn't a great program because, IMO, Highlands is the best program in the state although Trinity is quickly closing the gap. These national polls are all a joke, IMO. I pay no attention to any of them until a thread is started about them.

WHAT!!! I'd say the opposite and so would anyone else! Hands down that Trinity is the best program in the state. Both are tied with 20 titles, but the Shamrocks purely because of numbers always has and always will have the edge with talent! Their facilities and coaching is something that a small school like Highlands can never match. The Birds take a backseat to no other program with the exception of Trinity!

I disagree. Looking at sheer numbers of players and the titles won, Highlands and Beechwood are the most storied programs in the state. It's simply amazing that a small school like Highlands can take on, compete, and sometimes defeat D1 GCL powerhouses in Cincinnati. No other public school program has accomplished this feat.
^ Come-on Whacky, I'm a believer in HHS. But there is no way in hell that HHS is best, meaning could beat Trinity. If those two teams played every year, Trinity would win 90% of the time. This is like comparing Idaho State to Alabama and saying that Mt. Union is as good or better of a program because they have dominated and won more D3 national championships than the Tide! Sorry, size does matter!

Not what I'm saying Stardust....Basing it soley on public/private and size of player pool.
My thinking is like whackem's......most wins overall....tied for most titles overall.....most storied.....I have to give it to Highlands with Trinity closely behind them.
They win the games that are in front of them week-after-week, not a tough formula.
Listen, Trinity might be in Louisville and have a large pool to choose from, but lets face it... Highlands is in Cincinnati (might as well be). If I'm living in NKY and I want to be seen, I want to live in Ft. Thomas and play for the Bluebirds for some recognition and Class 5A championships.

What Highlands has done is impressive, but it's not like they are in BFE and still dominating. They have to be benefiting being so close the the Cincinnati Metro area. With that being said, in most peoples eyes, Trinity represents Football in the state of Kentucky w/ Highlands being 2.
Quite the accomplishment for such an overrated team.

No other public school in the state gets the type of players that come to Fort Thomas Highlands.

And the score will be a lot more in favor of the birds your not going to run the ball up the middle all night against the Birds just saying .
