But here’s the thing, you have a better chance at dying in a car wreck, heart attack. So many other things. But yet “society” picks one thing to focus on. I don’t see them stopping McDonald’s French fries, driving, smoking. So many other things that are more likely to kill you and stuff that people can control.

as far as football, it hasn’t been linked to any outbreaks or deaths, so why cancel it? Would you not agree?

We would have never been able to play the first high school game this year if the people who think doing anything is too dangerous had their way. What a shame that would have been to deny all these seniors, especially, a chance to play their final season. I think some were waiting for something bad to happen so they could have done the "I told you so."

You’re correct. This was done to satisfy our fear monger governor and the liberal coronabros at the JCBOE.

The players themselves are more likely to die from the flu than covid - 19...

The parents and grandparents who send their kids to games, school and practices do so knowing there is a risk.
Everybody is "eyes wide open" at this point.

Well my hope for allowing more people to attend the playoffs is that probably out the window

I didn’t see it posted anywhere but,

VICTOR PUENTE said on Twitter that Tackett told him there plan was to finish football, it was just moved back a week.

Take it with a grain of salt. I believe what he is reporting is true. I just don’t trust Tackett

I was told yesterday by a client that Boyle County is in quarantine stemming from their game last Friday with Bourbon. Can any of the Boyle people on here confirm? Also it looks like another team in my neck of the woods has decided to not play. The ADI is saying that Fairview is finished.

Boyle went back to all virtual this past week so the schools are empty, but I've heard nothing about being in quarantine.

I trust Tackett, it is the Governor that has pushed this back and he may not be finished. Tackett din't make this last move without a higher up directing him to,

I think Khsaa should do like NCAA is doing that any senior who meets age requirement can return to play next season. That would allow about 80% of seniors to return if they need to. There is a bunch of kids that has scholarships riding on this season and they should have the option of playing a full year.

So you are going to have a kid who graduated and doesn't even attend the school during the day playing football in the afternoons?

Colleges offer graduate programs and the ability for them to pursue an additional degree, High Schools do not.

The only time I remember a High School Senior getting an extra year was Bobby Leffew so I won't say it is an awful idea or not doable, but  having double digit kids at each program potentially playing while not attending school is in general a very slippery slope.

This decision made a difference in Bobby's life as after his injury everyone withdraw their scholarship.  That extra 1/2 year proved to the University of Louisville he still had it and received a full ride. IMO that was a good thing that happened. On a side note, Bobby still went to high school and took classes that prepared him for College, starting Jan. 1. This was a very rare circumstance that allowed this to happen as he still was not over the KHSAA age requiement.

McCracken County has said nothing about when and if they might play again against Apollo? Are any games going to be played 11/20/2020?

They delayed for two reasons.

A. Teams that were quarantining can get out of quarantine and play.

B. Let teams decide if they want to even play or not.

The reality is that they should have just said the top two teams from each district make it like the old days, but they didn't do that.

Tacket has told people off the record that they are going to do everything they can to play the entire playoffs and play at Kroger field. They have to get the sponsorship and ticket money...

“B” is what they said they were doing it for. I don’t know if I believe that either. But if it was A, then that’s stupid and wrong! No other teams during the season got a week off to get back at it. It also gives more time for others to contract it as well. What if we play this coming week, and JC and Corbin and Boyle all get COVID? They gonna push it back again?

I don’t think they pushed it back for that reason, and if they did, it wasn’t for everyone, probably one team with some people that have pull. But if they did, they just set a precedent for those who had it at that time, but everyone else is screwed down the road.

I will be suprised if we see football fonish out. I will also be suprised if we end up seeing winter sports. To me, everything "feels" like it did last spring. Numbers going up, pushing things back, i jist think we are seeing the tip of the iceberg. I hate it with all of me though. This virus isnt going anywhere and we have a long way to go before the vaccine is readily available. I hope im wrong but i think we are a long way from our old way of life. In the meantime its something that has to be delt with in a way that truly focuses on the mental well being of these kids.

No doubt.. it was kind of unprecedented but it was the right call that the KHSAA made.

I wanted to throw that caveat out because it is the only thing remotely close to what he was suggesting and I do think it was a good thing. With that said, a perfect example with one player as an outlier who still met the age restriction is a whole lot different than potentially allowing every Senior athlete to have the opportunity to return, male and female.

Logistically this is essentially impossible.

I don’t know what I hate more these days. The Covid fear porn that’s being spread or the chicken little posts like the one I’ve quoted. Some of you have become the most negative miserable bunch that I’ve ever seen. It’s a good thing the greatest generation never did think like some of you all or we would all be speaking Japanese or German.

I agree with everything you say!  It would be a nightmare to let all Sr.s that choose to come back for another year.

Well now that the playoffs have finished and all 6 classes got a chance to crown a champion I am surprised that this thread is so quiet. According to a lot of you “Dictator” Andy was going to shut the whole season down. Those predictions end up being a lot of hot air. I guess it’s quiet because all of you are too busy eating crow about that.

All joking aside I’m glad these kids got a chance to compete this year. Most teams got a chance to play 6-8 games and a chance to play a playoff game. Congrats to all these teams for persevering with delays, cancelled games, and constant changes. I hope next year the vaccine will allow the teams to have a normal season.

Never thought it would make it all the way through and I’m so happy i was wrong. Hate that teams had to end their seasons due to Covid when they had chances to win playoff games but to make it all the way through the season was in incredible
