Cody Parker of JC quit them the first night of the tournament, coaches say that the day before practice he done something wrong coach corrected him and he walked out during that, then come first game of the PIT he doesnt play first half and coach wanted to insert him in the 2nd and he said no he quit the team, from a coach of jc he says he is done for the season....
Then tonight during the game lawrence co. and allen central #33 of lawrence county leaves in the middle of game and quits their team...
Coach from lawrence co. says he is done also...
By the way stats attached for the last day of the tournament...

From what I heard from Head Coach, and 2 assistants
NO he is done...Won't allow him to return...
But my opinion, If he apologizes and such shows he is sorry and etc...I'd say we will see him at Regional Tourney...

The 2nd half was great. Both teams had players step up and hit some huge shots. Branham, E. Rowe did great on the perimeter and Layne Cecil played IMO his best game of the season down low. Great win for the Panthers in a great atmosphere. TW Oliiver was rocking. I loved it. Hail Pikeville!

When #5 JK Hall was fouled by E Rowe, (on a trip call), why did the referee(Hall) allow #2 Wade Skaggs to shoot the foul shots? I want to watch the replay on TV today to see if I am wrong. Is it a walking call if a player uses a different pivot foot (from a stationary stance)?

Yes.

Explain? Your pivot foot is the one remaining in contact with the floor after the opposing foot is moved. If you want to go left side of the defensive player, your right leg would move first to create a barrier to protect the dribble, thus your left foot would be the pivot foot. If you go to the right side of the defensive player, your left leg would move first to create a barrier to protect the dribble, thus our right foot would be your pivot foot. You attack the leading leg of the opposing player by using a different pivot foot. But our referees in this area do not accept this concept. If the player moves his foot to the rear before he moves forward, then he has established his pivot foot at that time, example: He picks up his right leg and takes a small step to the rear to get separation from the opposing player, his left foot is his pivot foot. He can not move that foot unless he dribbles the basketball.

Congrats Anthony on playing great defense against #24 Shane Hall. He did not score against you. Way to go!

Anthony did do a good job on Hall. However, isn't Anthony a senior and Hall a freshman. A 18-19 year old against a 14-15 year old. He should have been the better player. The Hall kid will be a better player by the time post season comes around and should really be a great player by the time he is a junior and senior if he stays healthy. JC has both ends of the spectrum. They are senior driven, but then have a very young bench that is freshmen and 8th graders. So the future looks bright for them. Good Luck to both teams the rest of the season. This game should make both of them better teams down the stretch. Should be an interesting rematch on a neutral court if it comes to that.

JC will be ok when they learn to play better together. They look to penetrate too much when their is nothing there. Forcing shots leads to turnovers. In my opinion, the offense needs to pass it more and look more for open shots , rather than 1 pass and a forced drive.
Thought that the zone looked good last night, maybe could have pulled it off quicker. You would have thought with us playing zone we would have rebounded more. 51-25 or what ever it was is a certain resipe for a big L.
Keep your heads up we will improve.

On a senior heavy team Shane is not the focus of the offense. I think the defense that Pikeville played was to keep him off the offensive boards. With Evans staying with him and having help from the big guys inside that is what they were trying to do and it worked. I am not trying to guess what the Pikeville coaches were doing but that is my observation. JC played a very good defensive game and Ethan Rowe hit some big 3 pointers in the second half. Pikeville out rebounded JC by a large margin and with Shane Hall playing the point on defense it hurt our rebounding but JC had to guard the 3 point shot as well because Pikeville has more than one good shooter. It felt like a District tournament game and overall JC played pretty well with a few things that I think that they will improve on. Congrats to Pikeville, that hit some big shots and both teams played very hard.
12-31-2010, 02:01 PM
with JC up by 6 or 8 several times, they could have blown it open had they set up a 3 play on screens for Skaggs. Not saying Skaggs should only be the offense, however their offense has to run through him everytime down to be more productive. Especially when it is crucial!

Is the replay of this game going to be on tv today? If so what channel and what time?

Congrats to my Panthers. Great, great game!! Bubbles said it right. This will help both teams down the stretch.

After watching the replay on IMC, channel 5, the referees did let the wrong person shoot the foul shot. Everyone in the gym knew it except the man who called the foul.
There were two instances where the wrong person was charged with the foul called. It should be easy for a referee to see the large number on the jersey and not make a bonehead mistake. Why did not the other two referees correct the erring official? Would that be under the striped-shirted brotherhood's code of ethical behavior? The main objective is to call a fair and just game, letting the focus be on the players, not the referees.

JC forced to many shots to win this one. They need to work on their free throws and rebounding if they are going to compete in the region.
01-01-2011, 12:52 PM
a weak PIT the same as a very weak 15th region
01-01-2011, 03:24 PM
sounds like pikeville, has a good team.

The Panthers seem to be a pretty good team just looking at the scoring stats. Saw the game on tv against JC. Pikeville plays with a lot of heart.
