A must read if you are from Greenup County

The end of Greenup Co. Football
Dear people of Greenup County,
I want to inform you of a grave injustice thats about to bestow the young men of the football program. I have been informed that AD Roger Newton has sent a directive to Coach Copley. In it it says he MUST schedule Ironton, Wheelersburg, and Portsmouth and drop teams that he (?) deems not good enough to play.
Here in lies the problem. With are numbers down due to several reasons. Why is he directing are coach to play teams that we cannot compete with? There are only two reason: money and or to kill the program.
I have a friend in adminstration who claims the latter (kill the program) is the main reason. He claims the Newton is being directed by a couple of power brokers (one is the dpp and the other is a pharmacist)with young sons coming up in the system that do not want football to be around to hinder basketball.
It is beyond me how anyone can hurt children in this manner. Why would we put are young men of the football program in such a bad postion. It should be noted that Mr. Newton is living in the house owned by the pharmicist. Im afraid Mr. Newton is bought and paid for and will be and is a puppet for these so called up standing members of the community.

Thats some assumption! If the administrators were wanting to get rid of the football program all they would have to do is say they can't continue to fund the program and shut it down. I believe I would find out what the facts were before I started point fingers...........:eyeroll:

LOL Doing it that way would leave a direct trail back to some in the BOE offices. Doing it this way gives them plausible deniability. All blame goes to Newton leaving him the patsy. He will claim its a move made for revenue. So everyone has an out by forcing them to play a schedule that the boys cant possible compete against.
We do see what side of the fence your playing on Goodguy. Shame on you for supporting this action.

Shame on me???? You've got to be kidding. I just made an unbiased comment as an outsider. What you said didn't make sense to me.

Just because a school loses football games and continually has a losing record doesn't result in them shutting the program down. If that were the case, many of the programs across the state would have been shut down years ago.

You just sound like an unhappy parent because little Johnny "jakelegg" did not play as much as you thought he should have. Shame on you for making accusations based on assumptions!!

You really dont have a clue do you or maybe your one of the haters that want the program shut down. My point is that with numbers down we cant compete. With the numbers we have we should be scheduling down not up. By scheduling these head thumping we are pretty much sealing are fate. Kids will not come out for the team or come out then quit. Which means no football team which means that some other sports at Greenup wont recieve the financial help that comes from football and basketball. Dont hate me cuz u aint me!
