Perry Central and Hazard.

Scott County, Oldham County, and Shelby County used to be huge rivals in the 8th region. Now, Scott County has moved to the 11th Region, North Oldham has opened up in Oldham County and Shelby County just split. I kind of miss seeing these three teams battle every year in the 8th Region.

Doesn't teams have to play each other to be a rivalry?

When I was in high school, Ashland and Boyd Co. was a great rival. I don't know how it is now since Boyd Co. basketball has fallen off the face of the Earth. Greenup Co. and Russell was a really good rivalry. May still be.
I can see Collins and Shelby Co. developing into a good rivalry.

Campbell County / Brossart is as intense as any game in the state. These two schools, separated by a mile has next door neighbor battling next door neighbor. Many instances, the parents went to the rival school. It's too big to hold on either schools campus. The student sections, though not as creative as the Cov Cath fans, are second to none in what they stir up during the game. I've been to the Holmes/HC, Dayton/Bellevue, Mason County/GRC - but they are no better than the Camel/Mustangs games.

Warren Central and Bowling Green is a pretty big one, and has only gotten bigger since Chane Behanan came to town.

Knox Central and Barbourville is always a crazy game.
Never been to one but I hear South Laurel and Corbin is a pretty big one aswell.

i like that brossart/campbell rivalry, but i might put Holmes/HC/CovCath ahead of that one, not by much though. HC has been down a few years, but those games or bloodbaths are always intense and extremely significant since only 2 of those teams can make the regional tournament.

Been alittle lopsided last couple of years. But, Paintsville and Johnson Central is still a pretty good one. Was actually part of a special on ESPN some time ago. ESPN was actually at a game and in the huddles during TOs.

2nd region:
Henderson Co v Christian Co

Covcath v Holmes
Holmes v Holy Cross
Conner v Ryle
Boone v Ryle
St. Henry v Dixie (picked up in recent years with St. Hank going to 34th)
Highlands v Newcath

back in the day the Clay County/Bell County rival was a doozy.. Bell/M'boro game would make for a great atmosphere, student sections would get crazy... but IMO i think that fans altogether in the 13th region have went down hill.. They just dont come out and watch these kids like the ole days.. (Well at least in Bell County..) Which makes atmospheres and rivals not seem as big..
Either way Hazard and Perry best rival in Southeastern KY..

I can't believe no one has said Shelby Valley and Pikeville. That's always a crazy game regardless of talent levels.

They've played each other every single year for as long as I can remember.
They may not play in the regular season but teams of that caliber will always meet up come tourney time.

Eastern - J'Town has been a good one in recent years. Especially this season as they are #1 and #2 in the state depending on where you look.
But like was said earlier, in the 7th region any combination of Eastern, Ballard, J'Town, Trinity or Male is always a heated match up.

They play every year in the Dis Tourney and most of the time in the Region... And if you wanna see some kids play hard go watch Hazard and Perry.

My dad always tells me that back in the day when he played for Somerset, their biggest rival was Danville.
