Where to begin!? I sit in awe and amazement with the heart of this group of young men! For a team who no one gave a chance at the beginning of the year, I think they have fought hard to consistently show the nay-sayers what heart, determination, and teamwork is all about! So much for the Big Red Machine having a down year, eh? CONGRATS, boys on a GREAT season! Win or lose next week, you have shown the character of champions already; to me, that is worth more than any trophy! BUT, I still want the championship!!!! GO BIG RED!!!

WOW, the entire game update thread from last night has disappeared! What's up with that?! Could it be? Did the Pond Creek Nation crash the site?! LOL

Anybody have a link to a video or audio rebroadcast of the game?

Great game to watch. Mistakes made on both teams, with no mistakes from either, I thought Belfry would have still taken this game. Somerset came in pumped up and ready to play. On the first series there defence looked stout and had a bend but don't break attitude. The interception ran back for a big gain. Then Belfry's D came on the field being even stouter. I could go on and on, but the game was won eventually on the line of scrimmage by Belfry's O line and tuff Defensive stands.

I sure didn't give them a chance. I don't think there's another coaching staff in KY that is as good as Belfry year in and year out at improving there team throughout the year. Haywood is the man. Not only is he an awesome coach, but he is a class act.

Well said, I don't think very many ppl expected them to make it this far. But we in the Pond Creek Nation are so proud of our boys. CAM was rocking last night. We will bring the same to BG and try to bring home that title to Belfry for a 3 time... LET'S GO ANGRY RED!!!! We love you boys!!

Loved, loved, loved the defensive play calling, in the first half especially. Nice adjustments made offensively to run the counter-option towards the split side of the field, too.
Congrats to these young men and the coaching staff on a job well done. This fan couldn't be happier about the way this season has turned out. Now lets finish this ride in Bowling Green.

This had to be the best game I have watched all season. We had 2 turn overs early and our Defense stepped up big and denied Somerset. Very very hard fought game by both teams.. WTG Pirates!!! So proud of you all.. One more to go, Let's bring it home...

Congrats to the Pirates!!! Wish you the best of Luck Next Week and will be pulling hard for you guys.
Great game that could have went either way. Somerset had opportunities early but didn't convert, you can't leave points on the field against a good team like Belfry.
Somerset Seniors...you guys were Warriors and I love each of you (one a litle bit more).
Remember what Coach said to you after the game, "Promise me that you will fight as hard in life as you have the last two years on the football field"

I am so proud of this Pirate team. I knew the record disparity would not show how close these teams really were and it proved true.
Coach Haywood is a living legend in the Prep Ranks, but for all the amazing coaching performances of his career, I would rank this season as quite possibly his best coaching job of his career. I, myself, said that Belfry was a year or two away from contending for the Title and that a District or Regional Title this year would be the most realisitic goal. I am so glad I was wrong. These Young Bucs have grown into a group of tough, seasoned veterans and are clearly playing their best ball. The defense has went from a liability to an asset, and the cohesion between the OL and Belfry's stable of backs have made them one of the more potent rush offenses in the state.
Huge hats off to QB Tyler Williams, who best exemplifies what this Belfry team has accomplished. Before the season started everyone was wondering when the Freshman Sensation Sani Warren would take over, and if it would even be this season. It was a foregone conclusion that Williams was a solid football player, but was merely a "space filler" at QB. Even I, myself, thought about which skill position we could best utilize him at to maximize Belfry's talent on the field. He has evolved into a weapon both running, passing, and has ran the offense beautifully. When the game was in doubt last night, the Junior played like a 5th Year Senior and hit homerun after homerun.
Belfry has a major uphill battle Saturday against a faster, more athletic, more aggressive team. It is funny that two teams with a combined 10 losses have risen to the top in 3A and defeated the three teams with the best records along the way. It goes to show what a tough schedule can do for a young team when they peak at the right time. Belfry will enter as the prohibitve underdog, but I am here to tell you, Belfry's best ball is still witing for them.

Congrats to our pirates on a huge win. Also congrats to Somerset on an outstanding season. I know there are a lot of heart broken young men from Somerset but no need to hang your heads. You guys had a great year and played a good hard fought game. The best game I've seen this year. That was what ky high school football is all about. With that said it's time for the pirates and the pond creek nation to get a little revenge.

he should het coach of the year, no matter what class, execellent job with these boys, and the decision to spread the offense out and open the play calling was big, because everyone knows what they was going to run, now they dont, good job Coach Haywood and your staff

Congrats to Belfry, they definitely earned this win on the field last night. Class all around. CAM was amazing, something I am glad I got to experience.
Jumpers, I hate it for you guys but that's why you play the game. I hate it most for these seniors, especially the ones that were actually going hard til the end for their team last night (tell your boy I said great game and effort last night JD). Younger guys, get in the weight room, keep your heads right in the off season and come back strong next week. The schedule is supposed to be brutal next season so you guys know your going to have to put in the work.
All that being said, difference in the game was discipline. There is no excuse for that many personal foul penalties, I don't care what is happening on the field you have to rise above it. JMO but Somerset had the better squad but Belfry just showed more heart and determination when it was all said and done. And I am not trying to take anything away from Belfry by saying that, it is just a testament to their will power last night.
Good luck next week Pirates I'll be rooting for title #3!

Not trying to argue, your opinion is your own, but I don't think Somerset was the better team. Team speed was about even, they play polar opposite styles of football offensively with Somerset being more of a finesse team & Belfry being a running team (just not your typical 2 TE Belly/Veer scheme).
Defense was the difference. Both teams played a pretty disciplined D, but the Pirates were much, much more physical from the 1st quarter to the last. I really feel that if both played a turnover free game the score would have been more lopsided in Belfry's favor.
But thats just my opinion.

i say i have to agree with you, even though i am a Pirate fan, i call it like i see it, and early in the year i as most didnt think they would get this far, last night probally there best all around game thus on defense, if they can have a game like that next week or better and the offense has no turnover they have a good chance..
