Someone asked about this school a while back, and I just found this article online. I don't think the school exists anymore. I know Prestonsburg played them in 1988.

I know (I had the original SI) . That's the reason I said I don't think they're open anymore..

I saw that game...
The year P-burg played them, the Blackcats may as well have been playing EKU or Marshall. The difference in size was incredible !!

I didn't get to see it because I was playing just down the road, but I remember Bill Letton, who was the coach at the time, say that he thought Tates Creek was fast (who Pburg also played that season thanks to Chuke Williams), but CAPE made them look like they were carrying refrigerators on their backs.

I was on Letton's staff that year, and luckily was spotting in the box, because it was a torrential downpour. Even with the rain, the speed and athleticism of CAPE was overwhelming.

You all had a muderous schedule that year.

I will never forget that game.... my senior year... They dressed about 60 kids. They brought in a little speedster on the punt team and he hit me as I fielded the punt harder than I had ever been hit..... Funny thing was he never played again the whole night ... One play !!! The final was 40-0 and could have been 70 or 80 -0 :HitWall: If I am not mistaken Carlos Snow (Ohio State) graduated from CAPE the year before...

Actually, now that you mention it, I remember that shot you took. All us coaches in the box kinda just went "OOOOOOOOhhhhhhh...." You didn't stay down very long, though...

Snow was on state champ teams in 1985 and 1986, his JR and SR years.

It sounds suspicious that a school like that once existed. What was the history of the school and how did it get its highly academic name.

In the 4 years of Snow's career cape was 45-3...

CAPE was a monster. I think today a school like that would be called an alternative school.

i wondered who they were for a while but after searching the CHL history i finally found the name but can anyone tell me what happened to them cause they had an amazing football program that dominated the CHL and had the most football state wins in the CHL and won the CHL more times than anyone

Vinnie Clark was another stud on that team. Think he played QB, wound up playing for the Packers if my memory serves me correct. Went and watched them play Holmes and was absolutely amazed at the team speed they had. Remeber looking in the paper every Saturday to see how many long runs, punt returns, or kickoff returns Carlos Snow had the night before.

If I remember correctly, Everyone thought it was a great idea for inner city kids, when it was taking undesirables out of Cincy schools. This thought changed when the school became more of a magnet school and started getting alot of athletes. I also recall they were very good on defense with the 6-2 shooter "D"
