In Varsity Football, Freshman players don't seem to come up too often, leastways in any manner that is impressive. Still, every once in a while, a freshman will have the athletic prowess to assist his team even in his starting year, and we must recognize that these same individuals are destined to become major assets years down the road.
If there are any freshmen out there that you know of who have already proven themselves as an asset to the team (or even if there are freshmen who are so beastly on JV teams that you just HAVE to give them a mention), I encourage you to post about them here.
I'll start off with Freshman Quarterback Cole Ousley, who is the starting QB at Lone Oak. He may not be the perfect quarterback, but he has already proven himself capable, passing for a stout 1625 yards in the first seven games of the season, with 13 touchdowns and a 63.07% completion rate (123 completions out of 195 attempts). While he has had seven interceptions, he has proven himself to be a great commodity for the Flash. Oh, and he stands 6'4", as well.
So...Freshmen? Please start listing.

I gotta agree with you on Cole Ousley, I was looking at KHSAA stats and it seems he can run it some too. I saw where he had some goaline touchdown rushes. 6'4 is really tall for someone his age well really tall for anyone period, and he's doing an exceptional job, lone oak is 6-1 this year correct? He will only keep getting better.

De'Andre Farris #22 for the Collins Titans. DeAndre was the starting TB at the freshmen level and started at CB on varsity. He got in at RB against Etown and his first handoff he went 30 something yards. Next serries and only second handoff the kid broke open and blazed 80 yards down the field for a TD. Dont know how many TDs he had at the freshmen level. Broke his fibula against Larue. This kid is a BEAST.

Indeed. He HAS taken a number of sacks, so his net yards rushing worth doesn't look too impressive, but he does have five rushing touchdowns and is certainly capable of running the ball when needed.

Chase Hall of the Pikeville Panthers is a dandy. If he keeps working hard he is really going to be something special.

Somerset's Will Lange has 1 rushing TD on offense as well as an Interception and Tackle on Defense, he looks very impressive for the Briar Jumper's future!

Got to agree 100%. Also would like to add-- #34 Caleb Campoy, and # 71 Gage Morrison to the list . Caleb, as a def. lineman is Very quick, and seems to always be in on the tackle, or near the ball. He runs the ball pretty well too. Gage Morrison has started as an off. guard, and off. tackle since the season began. He plays more like a Jr., or Senior than a Freshman . This team has got a good group of Freshman.

Jared Lake for Rockcastle County is a 6' 245lb. freshman who in last weeks game against Madison Southern was credited for 5 tackles which included a sack. This isn't too bad when considering Rockcastle use their defensive linemen to "eat" blocks up front and don't utilize them so much for their tackling ability. He also had a couple of tackles against Bell County the week before which is considerable compared to how many tackles there were total in the game. He will start tonight again against a huge Knox Central line.

Bowling Green freshman Lincoln Quick plays a lot of linebacker for the Purples. He was a middle school All American the last two years. You have to be good to play linebacker or any other position as a freshman at Bowling Green. It doesn't happen a lot.

belfry pirate sani warren ahd two big picks in the second half af the pike central game this past friday, to help bhs get a big distict win, #7 carr is the kicker and plays some halfback, justin johnsons game gets better every week, but my favorite pirate frosh is #18 timmy may, this young man learned friday he has played the last 15 games (jv monday, frosh thursday, and friday nights) with a broken rib, his father told him there was no way his ribs could be broken, because he finished the game when he first got hurt, he told him, there is nothing you can do over sore ribs, either play or sit out, he didnt miss practice or a game until last friday, very gutsy

Bell Co's #5 RB Jonathan Polly. If Bell Co didnt have such a deep RB stable you would hear alot more about him this year.

Johnathan Gist from Knox Central RB-has had some quality minutes this year, and has contributed well running the ball.

I hate to say this after they whipped up on us last week but Sani Warren for Belfry is a outstanding freshman. He came up big in the second half and I hate to see him play the Hawks for 3 more seasons.

Is belfry young this year do they have several freshman starting?

I would usually say that if you're starting a freshman on varsity, you must be a really weak team. However, having seen Bowling Green, it's impressive that a freshman can start at Bowling Green. The guy is a player.

Jefrey Williams at Greenup has been a force in his freshman games and has been starting at LB on varsity for a few weeks.

Harlan County has a group of freshman that really are a special unit from the front line to the skill positions if this group works hard in the offseason they could be something to contend with in the future. They have 4 or 5 that have started some games on the varsity and see quite a bit of action even when they do not start.

Belfry has several Sophomores and Freshman playing key roles either as a starter or as a primary backup. Sani Warren was mentioned earlier for his play at DB last week, but he is projected to be one of the best option QB's to ever come from Belfry if he continues to improve. The only hitch? Belfry's current QB is only a Junior and has improved exponentially since taking over last season at the helm. Same thing with the tremendous RB's in Carr, May, and Johnson... as good as they are Belfry is getting big time production from a pair of Juniors and a Sophomore.
The Pirates are going to be very good next year...and downright scary the two years that follow. Even in a "rebuilding year" they are one win away, tonight vs. Sheldon Clark, from being clearly amongst the Top 3 or 4 contenders for the 3A Title.

Anyone here anything about the Douglas Newman kid from South Floyd.

Betsy Layne has a couple of 9th graders starting' #8 Dylan Hamilton starts FB on offense and MLB on d-fense (may be starting QB next year): and #21 Blake Spencer starts at DE, Blake is also Running back on JV team.. Both players are real leaders and alot will be said about these two young men in future.

Daylan Beach at Raceland starts offense (wide reciver)and defense (corner) for Raceland. He has caught a couple touchdown passes and returned a fumble for a touchdown. He is a sure tackler and the 2nd fastest man on the team, as proved by his running down a Russell back who had a 10 yard head start him.

CARSON WHITHEAD is the beast of this group! Maybe the best Freshman I have ever seen in this area.

Thats right, I think a lot of them have turned into Bears this year. They have the best freshman team I have ever seen, not just say this cause it is Harlan County. They are for real!
