Seating at Sheldon Clark
#1
To all SC fans out there. Is it normal for opponents fans to sit on the home team stands at the rock? There is no chance those 1940's away bleachers will hold the JC faithful. I'm talkin about real fans and not people sitting over there to stir up trouble. I'll appreciate any info.

I actually enjoyed standing up on the track last season.

The way SC does the seating for visiting teams is the ONE thing I like about playing SC at "THE ROCK" they got it right, make the opposition scramble to find a place to watch! It makes "THE ROCK" one of the most exciting places to be for a football Friday night. This should be an exciting game to watch! Good Luck to both teams! :Cheerlead

Agreed, and I think it makes venues like this intimidating.

When Pburg went to Matewan last year, their set up was intimidating and some players admitted that they were intimidated at the start of that game. Same thing with the old Vipperman Stadium and 'The Pit' at Prestonsburg.

Don't get me wrong though, I like the updates everyone has made with the big stadiums and turf fields, but there is nothing like the old set up our stadiums around here had a decade or so ago.

sorry I was not intimidated last year sitting on those old seats,,thay just looked ready to fall down!!!
#6
I thought they replaced them with half way decent seating there.. I know we played there last year for a JV game but I really didnt pay much attention to the seating.

I assure you that our stadium is one of the best in the state. Your bleachers weren't anything entirely spectacular in the regional title game either, sugar.

Really wish someone could answer my question.

Well heres the long and the short to your question. I graduated from SC in 98 when we shared one set of bleachers with the opposing team. I also traveled to many games at JC when you guys did the same. All of us older ones wouldn't care too much as this is the way things use to be done...you know way back when we called Jim "Coach". Now, that being said, with all the rivalry, tension, and raw nerves blanketing the air..I'd say sharing the bleachers with all of us Cardinal fans might just go and light a fire under the Cards butts. They might see it as a sign of disrespect and come out blazing. So, sit where you may.

Lol, go for it buddy

BTW...I am just really glad that we don't have to hear that dang screaching hawk, dying falcon or whatever you call bird of yours.

Maybe JC can get everyone together and arrive around 5 or so and just take over the home seats for themselves.

Do they still let you stand on the track. To me at least that is the way hs football is meant to be watched.

all i got to say is you better get there early if you dont like to stand because when big games like this come to the rock its jammed packed.. because when other teams bring a big crowd and i know central will, there are never a place for all other teams fans..

yeah people do it all the time.. for a big game like this one coming up they wouldnt have a choice because people are going to have to stand on the track.

The way I see things are there are visitor bleachers for a reason. When we come to your field, we sit on the visitor side. Your fans just think they are too good to sit on the away bleachers. To me that is just rude to sit on the home side. I don't think it would be a smart thing for you to try to take the home bleachers. But of course, I'm sure your fans will try it just because they think they are better than everyone else.

If your school doesn't provide enough seats for the visitors, then you should not begrudge some of the visitors sitting on the home side of the field. If you feel that you are too good to sit on the same side of the field with JC fans, then get your school board to add a decent number of seats for visiting teams.

uh...i guess if there is aleady this much tension online and no players i hate to see what friday is going to look like. As far as the visiting team sitting in the bleachers they normally sit on the far side of the entrance. for people with back problems get there real early and take a seat in the middle because they are the only ones with backs.

When Whitesburg use to play Sheldon clark in the regular season and the playoffs we always sat on the same side as the SC fans and their never was a problem.

That's pretty strong words coming from an adult. Maybe SC should upgrade their seating for visitors to go with that nice new field they have. I personally have no problem sitting on the visitor side,as a matter of fact I would rather be there but for the elderly JC fans that needs a proper seat I say sit wherever you like.:eyeroll:

Sheldon Clark has maybe 4 small set of bleachers on the visitor Side and most of the time during big games some fans come over to the big set of bleachers and some stand on the track.

Alot of places dont let you stand around the field anymore. or like jc, now have fences set up to keep you away from the field.

I would be so proud if you were my mom. Wonder why Martin County has the rep it has? I do know some good people from SC however and feel sorry that they get lumped in with everyone else over there. Worst seating of any stadium i have been to in a while but thats to be expected. Thank you to all the level headed fans who have replied like CardinalAlum.
#24
Man Black&Gold you get that some times with people over here. Just come to our side and sit no one will say anything Id advise you just not to set next to the pep-section. I think SC was actually made to have both sides set on the same side and I think the reason they never have put in away bleachers is where it is so close to the road it would be kinda dangerous I guess.
#25
You would think Sheldon Clark would have nice seating. They have a wonderful field so why did no one think to put in decent bleachers?
#26
Oh and what kind of rep is that?...If I am not mistaken, Johnson County was featured in a bad light on Diane Sawyers documentary along with the rest of Eastern Ky. So don't act like you smell like roses over there while you are cruisin in a square around that wonderful Plaza. We all have the same problems and if you wanna compare reps...bring it!!! As far a seating goes...if you don't like our bleachers or our county for that matter keep your crack in big ole Johnson Co. We won't shed any tears.

Add another one. LOL. Do i really need to spell it out? Once again sorry to the good people of Martin County. I know there is a lot of you. Some of which i am good friends with. By the way that big ole square is paid for mostly by out of county people. I never claimed all of the Johnson County people were grand so I have no clue where you get that. I wish i could get rid of a bunch of them as well. So if you want to play that game I guess we will but i just want to know about seating. LOL! Sorry the truth hurts but it is what it is. Wow how quick a thread about seating turns nasty. Sorry i started it. I'll just make a call to somebody and ask them. Somebody close this thread for me.

I don't understand why you are so mad at johnson county? I would hate to have to bring up the fact (this is a tigers fan saying this by the way) That your school system is usually tied for dead last in the state as far as test scores so before you talk s**t about my county remember you've got 2 schools worth of fans to deal with. GO EAGLES

No insult to SC fans intended in the above post. Just that one lol

Test scores are irrelevant in this discussion. Obviously, this thread began over seating, but has escalated into a metaphor for the undeniable tension between the two schools. It's no big secret that there is, and will forever be, a lot of tension and animosity between Sheldon Clark and Johnson Central for reasons that everyone is aware of and do not need to be repeated.

That being said, I suggest that SC and Central fans alike arrive early if they would like a place to sit during the game... though I figure not many people will be sitting once the game begins anyway, so perhaps this whole debate is pointless...
