How did Boyd Co. look during the summer league. Did they win many games. What about the JV. Anyone looking good for either team?

Coach Anderson is a great man and coach, he will get BC turned around.

Very true about coach Anderson.

LC will miss Anderson, they might win 5 games this year. Why LC let him get away is puzzling, but this will be good for the rest of us in the 15th.

Have not really followed high school basketball for a while but with the new coach coming in what does the team look like for the up coming year? I do know size has been a problem in the past are there any size coming up for the future that can actually be a help to the team with rebounding.

Well you see, whether it is a good or bad thing, I don't really know, but LC is a school system that goes by the book. They offer their coaches, whether it be football, baseball or whatever a teaching position and pay for "extra duty" by coaching which is like $6,000 on top of their normal salary. Other schools in the area, and across the state I'm sure, attach all sorts of different titles on to the "coaches" responsibility to increase their total salary. Some coaches in the area make next to six figures after all their "duties" are assigned. LC just can't compete with that...

I think you might be a tad high, with that "six figures" comment. Unless you are counting the two spots to the right of the decimal point.

I can think of two in the eastern part of the state that make over $90K a year right off the top of my head ... one in Football and one in Basketball.

Wow!
How much of that would you say is above and beyond their teaching salary (or admin salary, if that's appropriate)?

I don't know the exact breakdown, but it typically is their normal teaching/admin salary plus extra duty pay. Just an example... in Boyd County, say you are just a teacher and have a Rank I plus 15 yrs, you would make about $55K a year plus a little over $7K for being the head coach. So, say they tack on 2-3 more extra duties to your name and you are making good money. Grant it, these folks have beyond a Master's degree too... so it's not like they are walking in off the streets and making $80-90K a year.
