Bell County, KY Emergency state firefighters Donald Caudill and Barnell Caudill Junior have been arrested and charged with wildland arson. The two Bell County men are also accused of wanton endangerment, interference with forestry officers or employees and terroristic threatening.

The charges stem from wildland fires believed to have been intentionally set on April ninth in the Elliott Branch area of Jenson, east of Pineville. The fires burned an estimated 85 acres. The two brothers allegedly interfered with forest rangers' efforts to extinguish the fire. They also allegedly discharged a weapon and made verbal threats.

They looked to be very intelligent people on the news. Kind of a surprise that they would do this sort of thing. Any thoughts on this erratic behavior?

They either did it to have something to put out and make themselves look good, they could be just stupid, or they could have pyromania....It's harder telling. This isn't the first case in which the firefighters have been the ones started the fires. Perhaps they did it because they thought they knew how to get away with it and get out of arson charges and stuff so they did it just to see if they could...
