Congrats to Michael. What an outstanding young man he is. He is not only a great athlete on the gridiron, but in the classroom as well.

Way to go Burchett!

Good luck Burchett!! Glad to see an area kid do well!
#5
Congratulations Michael! All of Eastern Ky is proud of you.
#6
Go down there with a determination that you had your senior season and prove that you can make plays...

Good Luck to a good kid...that has represented himself in a way that the younger kids can look up to.

I wanna be like Mike....

That's great great news! I was hoping he would end up there. As an opposing coach I can say that he is a class act not only on the field as a competitor but also off the field. I've gotten to know his dad some and talked to Mike after a passing league game last summer. He seems to be everything you would want representing your program! Congrats to Mike, The Burchett's, the Blackcat family and the Wildcats!

It was down to Centre and Kentucky from my understanding.

Glad he chose UK... congrats Mike!

Quarterback.

AWESOME for Burchett.

He made a believe outa me, when he went 99 yards to seal up the district championship over Valley.

I hope he goes to UK, works hard and earns his stripes. Burchett is a great football player.

One of the better QB's I have ever seen. I got the chance to watch him verses DeSales. My personal opinion I thought he should have been offered a scholarship to at least a small D-1AA or D-2 school. Good luck to Mr. Burchett

Congrats and good luck to a great athelete. Continue to make Eastern Ky. proud.

A great kid from a great family. From what I have heard, he had offers from a number of schools DIAA and others but decided to stay in state.

He is a 4.0 student taking the most difficult classes offered and absolutely blew away the ACT so he will probably be on a full academic ride.
Love to see the Floyd Countians do well.

:1: Congrats to a top notch kid. Thanks for an unforgetable season 2010.
#22
Best news I have heard in a long time.
#23
This could not happen to a better kid.
#24
Walk on, run on, jog on, take a bus on it doesn't matter.:thatsfunn I am just glad to see a mountain kid in the SEC. If he works hard and rides the bench for four years he will still be able to say he was a part of the highest level of college football and that will certainly be an accomplishment. Congrats to a new Wildcat!
#25
glad to hear this.. he was the best player i seen all year..
#26
great news...best of luck to burchett, witnessed a battle in the shelby vally district title game, between him and BJ roberts it was a clash of the titans
#27
Always Awesome to see a kid from the Mts going to a SEC school and even better to see them at UK.. Congrats Burchett and Best of Luck!
#28
One would have thought that he would have got some offers from schools like Pikeville, Union or possibly G-town.

If he is getting an Academic Scholarship....which it seems like he will qualify for....and UK wants him as a Walk-On....uhhh folks thats the same thing as everybody else that UK signed....He's getting the same education, and more that likely will be on the team.

A free ride to UK, with the opportunity to play football > An free ride to Union with the opportunity to play.

Whether its Academic, or Athletic....Mike Burchett is going to school at UK, and is going to play football....Which to EKY kid, 99% of the time is dream

Michael wasn't interested in NAIA schools.

He only showed interest in NCAA schools.
