Holmes' Jeremiah Johnson to Campbellsville
#1
From Ryan Ernst blog:

Holmes senior forward Jeremiah Johnson on Friday signed with Campbellsville University, according to Holmes coach David Henley. Johnson, an Enquirer all-star, was a three-year starter. He was a starter on the Bulldogs’ 2008 state runner-up and 2009 state championship teams.

Johnson averaged 8.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game and shot 41 percent from the field.

Campbellsville is an NAIA Division I program. It went 26-8 in 2009-10, spending the last six weeks of the season in the national top 10 poll.

His final two choices came down to NKU and Campbellsville. Although it's at the NAIA level, JJ joins his brother as the second Holmes player to sign with a D1 program this year. Campbellsville also signed Glasgow star, Cameron Hall.

Congrats to JJ and good luck. Not only is he an outstanding athlete, but he's an even better young man off the court.

Congrats to Jeremiah. It has been a pleasure to watch this young man for the past few years help bring Holmes Basketball back into the annual hunt for a state title. I wish him well.

congrats jj

Scary thing about JJ is that age wise he should've only been a junior this year. This kid hasn't even reached his full potential yet.

Congrats JJ!

A bit misleading wouldn't you say?

Not necessarily. NAIA Division I is very competitive and the financial support of the program is one of the only real differences between NAIA and NCAA in some cases.

NAIA schools will play NCAA D1 schools on a yearly basis. Campbellsville played UK this past season.

From my understanding, JJ also had a lot of interest from UNC-Asheville and Wright St but he simply didn't want to go that far away from home.

Campbellsville has a good program (although it isn't close to D1), dont expect him to come right in and make an impact his freshman year.

Whatever makes you feel better. You throw D1 around here like it's common. Now you are trumpeting that NAIA D1 is "D1"? Good Lord.

Congratulations to JJ, I hope you have a great career and get a solid education.

Where did I ever say NAIA D1 is D1??

I simply said "the financial support of a program is one of the only real differences between NAIA and NCAA in some cases."

Notice the bolded.

NAIA top 25 teams can beat the majority of the really bad low major NCAA D1 schools. Heck, Syracuse got beat by D2 Le Moyne in an exhibition this year and Syracuse was the rated #1 at one point this season and finished top 5 in the country.

Umm, how about here in your first post.

Look, it's cool you support Holmes. I get that. But let's keep it real.

Notice the bolded in the above quote.

Never did I try to hype it up to be some big D1 school.

Carry on.

You of all people know that D1 refers to NCAA D1. Apples and oranges. Again congratulations to the kid. I think he made a great choice.

If you guys wanna start up with the personal attacks again, that's fine.

But take it to the pm's. This thread is about a kid signing an athletic scholarship that will get his education paid for and all you can do is sit here and talk crap about the person who started the thread.

Grow up...it's getting old.
