Not too bad. I have the same argument that I had earlier about coach of the year, but I am going to let that issue die.

There is no way Amburgey should have been coach of they year.
His team would be 3rd or 4th in the region at best. His team the year before had 6 seniors and couldn't win because he wouldn't play the players he needed to, he adds one player and all of a sudden he's
coach of the year? No way. Randy Napier did the same thing, his team improved just as much as his and he didnt add a player from another school.
Look at the year Powell had and actually if not for the injury in the regional tourney to Rogers they would have beat Knott. Amburgey isnt even the best coach in his district let alone the region.

Didn't KCC beat PCC by 18 in regional play? Hwere did the Pratt girl on PCC's team come from? And, as for Powell they lost both games to KCC.

What about Rogers for Powell County, Turner of Owsley, and Sexton of LCC??????????
04-05-2010, 08:24 AM
AMEN!!!!!
Obviously stats had nothing to do with how they picked the teams. Harris is the top 15 in the state for scoring; #2 in the state for free throw shooting; and has scored her 2000 points in her career. She along with Thompson have been varisty players since 6th grade. Both were not only members, but starters, of the final four team at state. Guess they just weren't good enough for WMYT.

Your missing the point. KCC WAS a better team because they had the best
players, KCC SHOULD have done much better in the regional tournament with the talent they had. If you want to look at it your way then KCC split with Leslie and if not for a questionable call at the end of the game in their favor would have lost both. And Leslie LOST their second best player before season. They got drilled twice by Letcher and once by Breathitt. The only reason they beat Perry so bad was that Slone hardly saw the floor because of foul trouble. KCC had to actually go out and just play ball up and down the floor instead of worring about setting slowing it down and setting up plays that dont work 10 percent of the time. Even June Buchanon had them beat twice and choked. As for Pratt did she even get any real quality time at all? NO! The bottom line is that I think Amburgey had more talent then anyone top to bottom with the exception of maybe Breathitt and did very little with it. Amburgey had very little to do with the success this season,
actually most parents where very disappointed in the end.

I meant that only worked 10 percent of the time.

Didn't see Paige Slone mentioned anywhere, what happened to her
this year? She fell off the map.

I have an idea. Since Fraley resigned from the boys job at KCC it only makes
sense that coach of the year C. Amburgey get the head job for the boys.

I think what happend to Paige Sloan was, she was the team at Cordia and when she transferred she joined a talented team and sort of blended in. She will a solid player for KCC in the up coming year, but right now, she is really having to work for her points since there are 2-3 other scorers on the team. We will hear more from her.

That's a pretty good thought and your probably right. So then all that's really important in order to get recognized is how many points you score?
Assists, steals, rebounds defense just aren't that necessary? Should she not be able to work less for her points, take better shots and get more open looks at KCC, with more talent there than at Cordia. Blending in is one thing, being forgotten after you set up the offense make the first pass in another.
Not that's she's the only one that happens to on that team.

We played KCC both home and away this year and in both contests, they seem to run their offense through 2 girls. Number 14 and I think the other was #22? short, solid girl who attacked the basket pretty good.
Paige does get shots, but unlike when she was at Cordia. At Cordia, she took probably 75% of the game shots. She is a very good player on a team now that has other good players. That is why I used the term "blended in". After some of the other girls graduate, look for Paige to pick up her scoring as they will turn to her more. IMO

I went to every game this season and sit in the stands and as long a Amburgey is there neither she or KCC will never amount to anything, because he will just use her for his own benefit and the team will never win the district or region as long as he is there. Not only will her scoring not pick up, it will fall off each year if he remains there as will as the teams success. She was third on the team in shots when she should have been first, he will continue to use her to break the press and get the ball to his pet players. He ran a really good player off the team last year and ran one off this year that had a chance to make a good player.

I dont know what all the fuss is about, KCC was the fourth team in the region at best this year, Breathitt, LCC, Leslie proved to be better. I will admit that in the games I saw them play (LLC 3 times Powell 1 Breathitt 1) Amburgey was outcoached badly. I hope they keep him around for a long time.

Your right, but with the players he had it shouldn't been that way.

What players did he have that were so much better than Eldrige, Noble and Moore.

Hard to argue any of these choices. Very deserving and I'm sure that more kids that were left out were deserving as well.

It's good to see that the 12th region players are getting alot of recognition

Sara Hammond blocked a ton of shots and probably altered just as many and Angie Lawrence averaged a little over 4 steals a game and neither one made the all defensive team. That doesn't seem right.

Hovee of JBS was named on the 2nd team and Wright played rings around her when Owsley won the All A region.
