“TNA iMPACT!” ON SPIKE TV MOVES TO MONDAY NIGHTS BEGINNING MARCH 8

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling’s Flagship Series Will Air Live Every Other Week From
Universal Studios In Orlando, Fl.

New York, NY, February 16, 2010 – “TNA iMPACT!,” Spike TV’s highly-rated two-hour weekly series, is moving from Thursday nights to Monday nights beginning Monday, March 8 (9:00-11:00pm ET/PT), it was announced today by TNA President Dixie Carter and legendary pop culture icon Hulk Hogan at a press conference at the “TNA iMPACT! Zone” at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

“TNA iMPACT!” will air live on March 8, with subsequent telecasts live every other week. The series features many of the biggest names in wrestling including Hogan, Ric Flair, Mick Foley and Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle, as well as the hottest young talent in the industry: TNA World Heavyweight Champion “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles, “The Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe and “The Blueprint” Matt Morgan.

The first ever Monday live “TNA iMPACT” broadcast on Spike TV, ran as a three-hour special head-to-head against WWE RAW on Monday, January 4, 2010, and drew a franchise-record 2.2 million viewers. Two wrestling companies have not broadcast head-to-head weekly since the “Monday Night Wars” in the late 1990’s between WWE and WCW.

“On January 4 wrestling fans showed us they’re ready for a new professional wrestling alternative on Monday nights, and we’re answering that call. Bringing ‘iMPACT!’ to Mondays is our most exciting move yet in a year that’s already been filled with huge milestones for TNA” said Carter.

"Monday nights are now officially the best night of the week to be a fan of professional wrestling," Hogan said. "My mantra has been 'change is coming' since partnering with Dixie Carter and TNA Wrestling. This change is great for the business and all fans of professional wrestling will benefit because of it."

"TNA iMPACT! has emerged as one of cable's top performers with young men, said Spike TV President Kevin Kay. "With NFL Football off the television schedule and with "TNA iMPACT’s" expanding roster of top wrestling talent, we see this as an opportunity to tap into the millions of wrestling fans on Monday nights."

Since its founding in 2002, Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling has become the world’s fastest growing professional wrestling company, currently airing in over 120 countries worldwide.

This is going to hurt their ratings, IMO.

maybe Vince hired Hogan, Bishoff, Nasty Boys, Scott Hall, 6 Pac to go over to TNA to help tear it down

I will be watching TNA. IMO WWE has gotten horrible. I wish they would both wrestle more and talk less. It's like a soap opera. I miss the "old" days of wrestling.

TNA.
That scene with Brett Hart getting his leg crushed was absolutely horrible. Worst storyline and acting I may have ever seen on there. I changed the channel right then and never turned back, until, of course, I got a message saying "Yo, turn it to RAW. You have got to see Kelly Kelly's *** in these pants she is wearing!"

TNA will draw commercial jumpers. If they can intelligently book interesting angles and matches, they will have a chance to increase their ratings. They have a core group of watchers. I did it a few weeks ago. I was interested enough to flip back and forth.

TNA has a few serious issues that turn me off.

1) Production value - for whatever reason, it just looks cheap. It doesn't even compare with the old WCW. They need bigger crowds, bigger stage, better lighting, etc.

2) Crowd involvement - pops and heat are non-existent in TNA. If you are a new viewer to TNA how are you supposed to know who to cheer for? Plus, there's just something "right" about wrestling when there are pops and heat. Heck, have any of you seen the old AWA Wrestling on ESPN Classic? Even they had bigger, more involved crowds than TNA does right now. The small crowds make this look like some kind of backyard wrestling show.

3) Venue - Impact needs to move around. How do you get bigger crowds and more fans if you're stuck in one place all the time? I know that TNA wrestlers like the easy schedule that TNA has, but if they want to compete with WWE, they're going to have to move around some. Not every TNA fan can afford to take a trip down to Florida to see the show.

4) Bringing in all these old geezers - Hogan and Bischoff can draw, but the bigger get for TNA, IMO was Bischoff. Hogan adds very little to the show right now. Bischoff is excellent on the mic and TNA needs a permanent manager of the show. Much like McMahon was in the Attitude Era. After seeing Hogan, the Nasty Boys, very old looking Hall and X-Pac, I'm just left thinking why? So, this is where wrestlers go to die? I also have a problem with the constant gimmick ripoffs. Jay Lethal - just a cheap Macho Man imitation. Abyss - a cheap Mankind imitation.

I think a HUGE thing TNA needs to do for a few months is to help new viewers get involved in the storylines. I can pick up some from watching Impact every now and then, but I feel this is another big roadblock for me. Something TNA should do is for 3-6 months allow free PPV viewings. They will lose some money initially, but it will be something the WWE is not doing right now and it is something like will get new viewers more involved in the storylines, more so than just tuning in to TNA every now and then.

They can't compete with RAW and they are foolish for trying. TNA won't even get me to flip over on commercials.

I wish you would have forwarded that message my way. I missed it.

WWE storylines are being written by HHH right now....and it's not great, but TNA isn't going to do well against the empire that is Vince McMahon
