Baker was one of the best mountain basketball players to ever put a uniform on and led the MC Napier Navajos to the final four in 1984. He was the third leading scorer in the Sweet Sixteen despite the fact that he did not get to play in the championship game.

Gary served as Constable for 5 years and Magistrate for 4 years. His father Lewis "Cuz" Baker served Perry County as Jailer for two terms. Gary and his father Lewis considered it a privilege and honor to have served the people of Perry County. Gary looks forward to serving the people of Perry County in the future.
