No. 1 Trinity Rolls Past Boyle County 67-45
Trinity Continues School Record Win Streak with 17th Straight Victory

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 1 Trinity led by as many as 29 points on its way to a 67-45 win over Boyle County in Steinhauser Gymnasium to improve to 19-2 on the season, the best mark in the state of Kentucky.

Senior Taylor Epley led the Shamrocks with 14 points while leading Mr. Basketball candidate Josh Sewell had 12 points. Senior Dylan Kupper added 11. The senior class scored 48 of Trinity’s 67 points despite seeing limited minutes in the dominating win.

The Shamrocks used a 19-2 run, including a 16-0 spurt, that spanned parts of the third and fourth quarter to extend a 39-27 lead to 58-29 early in the final period.

Trinity limited the Rebels to just 30 shot attempts in the game (15-of-30) while Trinity shot 27-of-53 for the game. Trinity forced 27 turnovers in the game.

Trinity scored the first seven points of the second quarter and opened the period with an 13-3 run to take a 29-15 lead after leading by just four at the end of the first quarter. Epley scored 12 points in the first half, including ten in the first quarter.

Trinity returns to action on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 when it hopes to finish the month with an unblemished record when it travels to Owensboro to face the Daviess County Panthers. The Shamrocks have won their first 17 games away from home this season and are the only team in the state that has not lost a game away from home this season.

Postgame Notes
• Trinity has won 17 straight games, the best streak in school history and the state’s longest active win streak. Trinity’s last loss came on Dec. 15, 2009.
• The Rocks have won 19 of their last 20 games overall, including 17 straight.
• Trinity is 41-10 over the last two seasons.
• Trinity improved to 9-0 in the month of January this year. It is the most wins in the month of January for Trinity since going 9-1 in 2005.
• Trinity has won at least 19 games in three of the last four seasons, the first time in program history that has been achieved.
• Mike Szabo became the second coach in program history to record 19 or more wins in five or more seasons at Trinity. Joe Thompson achieved the feat seven times during his 21 seasons at Trinity.
• Trinity has now won 118 games over the last six years, tying the best six year mark in program history. It tied the marks achieved by teams the completed six year periods in 2006-2007 and 2008-2009.
• Boyle County marked the first and only 12th region team on the Trinity schedule this season. Trinity last faced a team from the 12th Region on Dec. 29, 2008, a 61-53 win over McCreary Central.
• Tonight’s game marked the first against Boyle County since the 1992-1993 season.
• Sophomore Troy Saxton earned his first career start in place of Daniel Corbett. Corbett missed the start due to illness.

Trinity continues their awesome season with yet another win. They are really starting to set themselves apart. Grats guys.
