Sounds really fair. Trinity had one heck of a week.

Indeed!!! They have an amazing team but come tourney time they have to bring their A game every night. I cant believe that they are not only the same region but same district as Ballard and Seneca!!!

I would change a few things. Switch Ballard and Holmes. Also think that Bowling Green is too high. I would put them in the 15-20 range.

This actually looks pretty good.
Trinity is the clear cut #1 team in the state. Ballard beat Holmes back in December in Louisville, but Holmes has been playing better as of late as their bench and role players have finally started to step up in big games.
I do think Christian Co is better than #15 though. I said it at the beginning of the year....they're a legit top 10 team and proved it against Holmes the other night.
Shelby Valley will have a chance to prove they belong in the top 10 this Friday in a big game with Christian Co.
Warren Central is also better than #20....I'd have them in the 10-15 range, especially with them about to get Shanklin back.

Agreed. Warren is around 15 I would say. And I also think that Christian should be up a little.

I think with Shanklin in the lineup, Warren Central has the talent to be a top 10 team. Even though they have six losses, none (other than maybe Fairdale) are what I would call "bad" losses. They played Ballard and Poplar Bluff very tough in the Poplar Bluff Shootout. I was also impressed with the way they played a very tough Bowling Green team the other night.
I say when Shanklin returns and produces like we are used to, Warren Central will be even more dangerous than they already are.

I agree.
Warren Central will have a chance to prove themselves Feb. 6th when they travel to Covington for a match up with Holmes. Hopefully WC will be healthy.

Trinity is awesome this season. To win all three of the largest , and deepest tourneys in the state in the regular season is just insane.
Thus far they are tops in the state. Its goin to be one crazy regional tourney with J*town, Eastern, Trinity, Seneca, Male and Ballard going at it. Is that even fair?? They basically have their own state championship. It will be crazy when the lowest seed team to make their regional tourney could win most regions in the state this season.

I don't see why people can call Trinity such a clear cut favorite.
It took them overtime to beat Ballard and let's not forget Ballard also beat them by a similar margin earlier in the year and in regulation.
Ballard only has one in state loss and that's to Trinity. Trinity has been playing well lately but they have 3 in state losses, one of which is to Ballard.

Only 2 losses so far.
No question that Trinity, Ballard, Eastern, and Jtown are all relatively equal in my mind. Whoever is playing best the first week of March will win the region!

Look at Newport sneaking in the top 20!!! Impressive

I think the reason Trinity is the "clear cut" #1 team is because Top 20 polls are more of a what have you done for me lately.
Coming into the season Holmes was "clear cut" #1 because they returned alot from the state championship team a year ago.
Ballard beat Scott Co, Trinity, then Holmes and became the "clear cut" #1
and now that Trinity has returned the favor and won the KOB, RBC, and most recently the LIT vs some really good competition in all 3 including top 10 teams Ballard and Jtown in the last week they have the "clear cut" #1 title right now.
I am sure it will switch hands again maybe 3 or 4 times, but bottom line is only one team will leave Rupp with the banner to hang in there rafters. These polls are fun to look at but nothing to get upset about or predict championships over. It will all get settled on the court. There is a chance the Trinity wont make it out of the 7th, there is also a chance they can win it all... We just have to wait and see.

So the state tourney drawing is this coming friday? That should make things a bit clearer as far as predicting who has the best shot at a state title. The 7th has had a favorable draw the past few years, especially last year.

Highlands the 12th best team in the state? They're only #3 or #4 in the latest 9th District coaches' poll and lost by 15 the other night to a .500 team (Ryle). Both Newport (which beat Highlands earlier in the season) and Christian County should be ranked ahead of the 'Birds. One could make a pretty good case for CC being in the Top 10. One very good team -- Highlands, Newport or NewCath -- isn't going to make it to the regional finals at NKU this year. All in same district and only two go on.

This is a very good rating of the State in my opinion, the only top 20 team I have in question is Male. How can a team with a record of 8 and 9 be rated in the top 13, let alone top 20. I don't care if they lost all 9 games to the #1 rated team in the state they should not be ranked. There are lots of EKY teams deserving of that #13 spot, teams like Ashland at 15 and 3,KCC at 14 and 4, Hazard at 13 and 6, Fairview is at 14 and 2, thanks for rating Corbin at 15 and 2. Overall, a good poll though!
