Knox Central 71 - Harlan Co. 57
#1
BARBOURVILLE — Knox Central senior Cody Miller demonstrated why he was voted the top player in the 13th Region Thursday. The 6-foot-5 senior guard poured in 36 points to lead the Panthers to a 71-57 win over Harlan County.

With the Panthers up by only four at the half, Miller took over during the third quarter, hitting all six shots from the field and scoring 14 points in the quarter to lift Knox Central to the win.

“He has the ability to take over for stretches like that, and he had one of those nights tonight where he was making shots, rebounding the ball and making plays on both ends of the floor,” said Knox Central coach Brian Evans

Baskets from sophomore guard Dustin Bray and senior center Jecorey Fields and a 3-pointer from senior guard Kyle Hogue helped Harlan County (5-2) jump out to an early 7-2 lead. However, Miller and sophomore guard Tanner Broughton combined to score 14 of the final 19 points in the period and give the Panthers an 18-12 lead.

Miller is an amazing player. My old school upbringing forces me to wish he stayed closer to the bucket offensively instead of relying on 3's. But when you make as many as he did last night; nobody can argue. Still - if you live by it; you can die by it. Broughton was very impressive last night as well. His speed alone makes him fun to watch and hard to stop.
