Along with numerous Breathitt fans who chimed in, quite overconfident, in the "comeback kids" and "3A playoff" threads. IMO a very very disappointing and underachieving year for the Bobcats.

Tough Loss for Breathitt County, I knew it was going to be hard for them to beat Somerset especially at Somerset.
#7
Congrats to both on good years, especially BC on turning it around when it mattered. Good luck to Somerset here on out.

As Breathitt supporters we aare proud of our team, win or lose. Breathitt simply was a terrible defensive team all season and that caught up with them against good teams.

Im not sure you can ever say they turned it around. Big wins over very weak opponents may have made it seem that way but getting pushed around by a quality opponent seemed to be more the norm rather than the exception this year for Breathitt.

Any stats for this game?

Great Game to watch...First half was a shoot out with Somerset up 27-26. Somerset opens with a FG then BC gets touchdown for the first lead of the game 33-30. Somerset then scored 21 straight to win the region, great crowd and great game!!!!

Go Jumpers WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!

I called this one.

Congrats Jumpers!

Congrats to the Briar Jumpers on the win--you did your talking where it mattered most, on the scoreboard. When Breathitt took the lead 33-30 you dug in and shut them down the rest of the night. It looked like Somerset had a lot more in the tank in the 4th quarter--I think the Bobcats had a lot more kids playing both ways. Breathitt had a fine team and Haddix and Fugate were as good as advertised. Somerset played great team ball like they have all year and the offensive line for the Briar Jumpers simply manhandled the Bobcats all night long. Breathitt was only able to stop the Briar Jumpers 1 time, before the last 4 minutes when Somerset was just trying to run clock.

Breathitt has a fine team and a great group of coaches and fans. I was on the chain crew and everyone was first class. It got a little chippy at the end but its tough to see your season end and the coaches got a handle on it quickly. Congrats to Breathitt on a great turnaround to their season--you should be tough in the years to come.

Way to go Briar Jumpers, keep it rollin'!

I missed the outcome on this one. Great job Jumpers. I'll gladly eat my share of crow. Good luck to Fugate at the next level.

As they should be!!! Great hard hitting game!!

Congrats to Somerset's Briar Jumpers. Congrats to Briar Jumper Dad.
I am very proud of the Bobcat's for playing 100% and I look forward to next season. I wish Fugate the best at Tennessee.

Thanks Flashman, glad to see you made it home ok... don't worry I'm not going to bring up any of your many post where you predicted total destruction of my beloved Briar Jumpers. Great Game, would like to have caught up with you before the game tonight!!

I really thought the call by Holcomb to punt on 4th and 1 with Somerset leading 37-33 was huge. The Bobcats hadn't been able to stop Somerset all night and when the Briar Jumpers got the ball back and went up 2 scores the Bobcats really seemed to hang their heads.

Yeah...when we went up by 4 it got really nasty.A real flag fest. Thanks refs.

The refs didn't have anything to do with the Bobcats allowing 51 points to the Briar Jumpers. Somerset's offensive line manhandled Breathitt's defensive line all night. The Bobcats couldn't stop Somerset through the air or on the ground--there was a major difference in team speed out there tonight. Breathitt had a great group of fans--please don't make them look bad by trying to blame this on the refs......The better team won tonight--end of story.

I'm a Breathitt fan but I gotta say, this Somerset team would be no where without that offensive line. Those boys are big, fast, and strong. Being a former linemen I had to give them much respect on controlling the line of scrimmage.

Having said that... I don't understand Breathitt's Defense at all. Why would you run a 6-1 defense? Especially when your only linebacker isn't Channing Fugate. I know this Freshman class is good, but with Somerset having such a big and powerful offensive line, I don't understand having a freshman as the only linebacker in the box....Yes Breathitt brings two outside linebackers off the edge, but they couldn't get a pass rush at all. So why not rush 4 and have the two extra guys to play coverage, or atleast the cut back on run plays??

Breathitt had people step up at the skilled position, but I felt as if the line just was over powered. I hope Somerset sends their left tackle and right guard off to college, because those 2 are Men among boys out there. Great win for Somerset.

i sure thought breathitt would win but oh well good job briar jumpers

I'll have some A-1 sauce with my crow. You were right BJD when you said the game would come down to whether Breathitt's D could stop Somerset's offense. Great job Briar Jumpers. The torch has been passed to you from one of the greatest high school football dynasty's in the state. I hope you guys beat the snot out of Sheldon Clark and put Central in their place.

Once again great game by both teams.

First class post Flashman. You guys had a great group of fans, players and coaches there tonight. One of the best groups we've dealt with on the sidelines all year running the chains.

Come on down to Rocky Top Fugate. I actually saw him at the UT game a couple of weeks ago. I think he could compete for playing time at some point. He's a good player. Best of luck to him.
