Hayden scored five more touchdowns ââ¬â four on the ground ââ¬â to lead the Eagles to a 41-16 victory over visiting Fairview and break former Fort Knox star Derek Homerââ¬â¢s state record for career rushing TDs in the process.
Hayden scored on a 29-yard pass from Lucas Witt on the first drive of the game and then ran for four rushing touchdowns to help the Eagles build a 41-0 lead early in the third quarter.
The LCA senior running back broke a tie with Homer, a former University of Kentucky standout, and finished the night with 114 career rushing touchdowns. He already held the record for total touchdowns in a career.
Hayden ran 15 times for 81 yards and caught two passes for 38 yards.
Lexington Christian advances to play Ã*Raceland in next weekââ¬â¢s third round. The Ã*Eagles defeated Raceland 40-0 last month in Lexington.
