when is playing 19 year olds allowed.
#1
There is no big deal to myself but my neice was denied the right to play because of her age. But according to KHSAA Bell County has listed one girl
no name in mention admitted to kHSAA on the Roster as a Guard-Center and does fully intend to play this 2009-2010 season. This individual is not a starter but i was wondering if they are circumstances where a player as such the Bell county young Lady playing and or also hopefully maybe my niece can apply through the same KHSAA channels and be allowed to play as well. when we checked before they were not but perhaps such as the above girl having medical allergies the school informed me and they allowed her on the roster on that apening if anyone else (overage)can posssibly be allowed to participate as well. I am just curious and as well hopeful for my niece whom is not at all considered an impact player but does so love basketball and also the practice and such to be quite frank helps
with her obesity problem as well. not to be argumental just hopeful for
my neice. would someone please educate me on this

19 year olds are allowed. As long as they turn 19 after a certain date during their Senior season.

I believe the date is Aug. 1st. Any athlete who turns 19 on or after this date is eligible to participate their Sr. year.

There is circumstances that I know of that would allow this. If this was indeed reviewed at the state level, a Birth Certificate showing her date of 8/1 or later would have had to be produced.

The only other circumstance where this child would be legally eligible to play turning 19 before the Aug 1 date is if they had a 504 plan or some type of Individual Education Plan(IEP) for this student. Then they allow the student to play.
