UK's Bowl Hope Breakdown
#1
Currently: 3-3, 1-3 in SEC
Wins: UL, @Miami(OH), @Auburn
Losses: #1 Florida, #2 Alabama, @South Carolina

Remaining:
vs. UL-Monroe (4-2)
vs. Mississippi State (3-4, 1-2)
vs. EKU (4-2)
@ Vanderbilt (2-5, 0-4)
@ Georgia (4-3, 3-2)
vs. Tennessee (3-3, 1-2)

Current SEC East Standings
1. Florida (6-0, 4-0)
2. Georgia (4-3, 3-2)
3. South Carolina (5-2, 2-2)
4. Tennessee (3-3, 1-2)
5. UK (3-3, 1-3)
6. Vanderbilt (2-5, 0-4)

Florida Remaining SEC: @ MSU, vs. Georgia, vs. Vandy, @ SC
Georgia: @ UF, vs. Auburn, vs. UK
SC: vs. Vandy, @ UT, @ Arkansas, vs. Florida
UT: @ BAMA, vs. SC, @ Ole Miss, vs. Vandy, @ UK
UK: vs. MSU, @ Vandy, @ UGA, vs. UT
Vandy: @ SC, @ UF, vs. UK, @ UT

I think UK finishes 8-4 and beats UT ending the streak, thus finishing 4-4 in the SEC.
Florida and Alabama run the table but UF beats BAMA in the SEC Championship. Georgia loses to UF and beats UK and Auburn. SC beats Vandy and Arkansas but loses to UF and UT. UT loses to Alabama, UK, and Ole Miss but beats SC and Vandy. Vandy goes o'fer.

My predicted SEC East:
1. Florida 8-0
2. Georgia 5-3
t3. South Carolina 4-4
3. UK 4-4
5. UT 3-5
6. Vandy 0-8

SEC Bowl Tie-Ins
BCS Championship
Sugar Bowl- SEC Champ or Runner-Up if Champ plays in BCS Championship
Cotton Bowl- SEC West #2
Capital One- SEC East #2
Outback- SEC #5
Chick-Fil-A- SEC #6
Liberty- SEC #7
Music City- SEC #8
Independence- SEC #9
Papajohns.com- SEC #10

Based on the projected finish above I see UK either in the:

Outback: Would need a lot of help including SC and Ole Miss tanking it.

Chick-Fil-A: probably would need SC to lose to Clemson and/or Ole Miss to tank it down the stretch

Liberty/Music City: Liberty would love to have Arkansas or Ole Miss if they are available, Music City would love to have Tennessee if they are eligible, otherwise they will always want UK, especially if UK beats UT.

Independence: Takes whoever they can get.

Papajohns: Takes a SEC school if one is left.

I anticipate these SEC teams to be bowl eligible:
Florida:13-0 (BCS Championship)
BAMA: 12-1 (Sugar)
LSU: 10-2 (Cotton)
Georgia: 7-5 (Capital One)
SC: 8-4 (Outback)
Ole Miss: 8-4 (Chick-Fil-A)
Arkansas: 6-6 (Liberty)
Auburn: 6-6 (Papajohns)
UK: 8-4 (Music City)
Tennessee: 6-6 (Independence)

So realistically my guess is that UK ends up in the Music City Bowl again. Once again I am prediction on UK going 804 and beating Tennessee. Any deviation from this scenario will certainly change everything. Win out and we are either in the Outback or Chick Fil-A. A win over UGA and loss to UT puts us in the Chick-Fil-A and UT in the Music City as Georgia falls to the Independence Bowl. A loss to UT and UGA puts us in the Independence. Lose to UGA/UT, and either Vandy/MSU and we will be bakings pizzas in B'ham.

I think we would beat Georgia before we would beat Tennessee, there defense i really good. Not sayin that UT is as good as Georgia i just think UT stacks up against us better IMO
#3
I other words, as UK fans:
1. We need to cheer for Bama and Florida in EVERY GAME LEFT! We need to make sure one plays in the BCS Title Game and the other in the Sugar Bowl to help our bowl destination.

2. We need to cheer against South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee (that one is easy) EVERY GAME! So even though the SEC pride in us says that we want to see South Carolina beat Clemson, we better hope Clemson wins by 50.

3. We want Vandy to lose to Florida and Uk and win out the rest.

4. We want Auburn to beat Georgia and Ole Miss

Ya never know which Tennessee team is going to show up.. But I would think that us beating Georgia 45-19 would argue the point that we're as good as Georgia.

EKUAlum05 You really did your homework on this. Great post on the projected bowl games

Exactly... that's why I think UT beats South Carolina. Tennessee plays on an emotional gradient. With the exception of last year and Fulmer's last game, UT does not "get up" for UK anymore, as well they shouldn't because they have dominated UK for so long. UK's best hope is that UT enters 6-5 so they are not playing for a bowl bid and all in all they are capping off a disappointing season.

Additionally, their style of offense is very condusive for UK's defense to match up with. UK's biggest struggle comes against teams with either deep, tall receivers, athletic TE's, or against mobile QB's, when UK can play their safety's up and their LB's aren't forced to cover the pass they are very good against the run. Crompton is far from mobile, UT's WR depth is poor thanks to injuries, and Stocker is an average TE at best.

Georgia, OTOH, creates some issues for UK as they have a very talented WR corps led by AJ Green, they have a very athletic TE in Orson Charles, and even though Cox is not a very good QB and will not run the ball much, but he can move around the pocket pretty well and keep plays going with his feet.

Good luck big blue

Would love to see us either beat UT of UG to get the 8th win. We still need to beat Vandy!

All of these are very realistic possibilities. UK needs to take care of business. This is probably the best year for UK to beat UGA and UT. UT is REALLY talented but IF UK is going to beat them it has to be NOW.

Lane Kiffin is a great recruiter and UK does not want to wait for him to bring a lot more talent into Knoxville to try and get a win. Hopefully, Lindley is back for this game.

there is games every day wrongly decided by refs, if you ever watched lebron james you would see this. but u have to go on. florida will beat bama in the sec championship. tebow will come to play just like last year

Marshall won't win C-USA this year. They are an average C-USA team at best.

BAMA will win the sec title UK hopefully runs the table finishes 5-3 in the sec and 9-3 overall and gets to go to the at&t cotton bowl to play either and these are based on my predictions an 8-4 Kansas Jayhawk team or an 9-3 Mizzou team and last but not least an 8-4 Nebraska Cornhusker team (Cotton bowl-Big 12 vs SEC) January 2 @2:00pm in Arlington Texas in the Dallas Cowboy's stadium on Fox

I agree with you except on one thing.. I think Luke Stocker is a little better than average. With our lack of depth and playmakers at receiver, Stocker is emerging as a big time target in our passing game. Might not be as athletic as Charles for Georgia, but he's becoming more involved in our offense. Plus, he is being recognized for his play. He made the Mackey Award (Top TE) midseason watch list, which includes 22 players.

You're right about Georgia. Their big receivers have the ability to stretch the field and create some mis-matches. Which in turn, can open up the run. Its hard to find a better receiver than A.J. Green in my opinion. They're offense is very similar to Tennessee, you just don't know which offense will show up. The offense that ran up 52 points against Arkansas, or the offense that scored 3 points against Tennessee.

Alright.. I am going to do a 2 part post.
1. Outlining the most likely scenario that Alabama and UF both end up in BCS games.
2. Outlining what happens if only one of those make a BCS game.
#27
I'll be glad wherever they go Coach Rich brooks has done a great job all they can do know is make there bowl better GO CATS

IF BOTH UF AND ALABAMA MAKE A BCS BOWL GAME:

Current standings (Bowl Eligible in italics):
SEC EAST
x1. Florida 10-0, 8-0 vs. FIU, vs. FSU
2. Georgia 6-4, 4-3 vs. UK, @ Georgia Tech
3. South Carolina 6-5, 3-5 vs. Clemson
4. Kentucky 6-4, 2-4 @UGA, vs. Tennessee
5. Tennessee 5-5, 2-4 vs. Vandy, @ UK
6. Vanderbilt 2-9, 0-7 @ UT

SEC WEST
x1. Alabama 10-0, 7-0 vs. Chattanooga, @ Auburn
2. LSU 8-2, 4-2 @ Ole Miss, vs. Arkansas
3. Ole Miss 7-3, 3-3 vs. LSU, @ Miss State
4. Auburn 7-4, 3-4 vs. Alabama
5. Arkansas 6-4, 2-4 vs. Miss State. @ LSU
6. Miss State 4-6, 2-4 @ Arkansas, vs. Ole Miss

SEC BOWL TIE-INS
1. BCS National Title
2. Sugar Bowl
3. Capital One Bowl
4. Cotton Bowl
5. Outback Bowl
6. Chick Fil-A Bowl
7. Liberty Bowl
8. Music City Bowl
9. Independence Bowl
10. Papajohns.com Bowl

Assuming Alabama and UF take care of business, UK controls their own destiny in the SEC East Standings.

UK DEFEATS UGA AND UT
- UK finishes 2nd in the SEC East (8-4, 4-4).
- If LSU beats Ole Miss, let alone wins out, the Tigers will be in the Cap One Bowl. Ole Miss will fall to the Cotton Bowl in this scenario, and UK would play in the Outback Bowl.
- No matter what happens, at worst LSU would finish with the same record as UK and will probably get the nod over them for the Cap One Bowl,,,,, in other words UK's best case scenario is the Outback Bowl.

UK Defeats UGA, loses to UT
- UK finishes 7-5, 3-5...
SEC EAST IMPACTS
- No matter what happens UK finishes 5th in the SEC East, even if they finish 7-5 and the other teams finish 6-6 because both SC and UT would own the tiebreaker on UK.
- Best case would be Music City Bowl, worst case would be Papajohns Bowl.
SEC WEST IMPACTS
- If Miss State wins out (doubtful), then that leaves 11 Bowl Eligible SEC Teams. Thus UK's 7 wins would certainly help their situation as 3 other SEC teams would finish more than likely with 6 wins, and probably see UK either land in Birmingham or Nashville (most likely). Miss State or South Carolina would end up the odd man out as SC would more than likely finish 6-6 losing 5 of their last 6, MSU's low crowd following would hurt their chances.

Most Likely Scenario:
USC finishes 6-6, UT finishes 7-5, Arkansas finishes 7-5, Auburn finishes 7-5.
LSU to Cap One, Ole Miss to Cotton, Tennessee to Outback, Georgia to Chick Fil-A, Auburn to Liberty, Arkansas to Independence, UK to Music City, SC to Papajohns

UK Beats UT, Loses to UGA
UK finishes 7-5, 3-5.....
SEC EAST IMPACTS
- Georgia would finish 2nd in East, UT would have to beat Vandy to force a 3 way tie with UK and USC.
- If SC loses to Clemson, UK finishes 3rd in SEC East. If SC beats Clemson Uk finishes 4th in SEC East.
- IF UT loses to Vandy, UK finishes 4th in SEC East regardless of SC vs. Clemson.
SEC WEST IMPACTS
- If Arkansas wins out they would knock UK down one spot in every scenario. Thus, UK finishes 3rd in East but end up in Music City Bowl, UK finishes 4th in East and plays in Papajohns.

Most Likely Scenario:
LSU- CapOne, Ole Miss- Cotton, UGA-Outback, UK-Chick Fil-A, Arkansas-Liberty, Auburn-PapaJohns, USC= Independence, UT-Music City

UK Loses to UT and UGA
- UK finishes 6-6, 2-6
- UK finishes 5th in SEC East no matter what
SEC WEST IMPACTS
- If MSU becomes Bowl Eligible it becomes a tossup between UK, Arkansas, MSU, and USC for three bowl games. In other words it probably would be UK vs. Miss State for the Papajohns Bowl... UK may miss out.

MOST LIKELY SCENARIO
LSU-CapOne, Ole Miss- Cotton, UT-Outback, UGA-Chick Fil A, Arkansas-Liberty, UT-Music City, Auburn-Papajohns, UK-Independence
#29
IF UF Plays in BCS and Alabama Loses to Auburn:

Alabama automatically becomes SEC's Cap One Rep

UK DEFEATS UGA AND UT
- UK finishes 2nd in the SEC East (8-4, 4-4).
- Auburn finishes 8-4, 4-4... LSU and Ole Miss both own tiebreakers though in the West on them.

MOST LIKELY SCENARIO
Cotton-LSU, Outback- Ole Miss, Chick Fil-A- Auburn (even though UK beat them), Music City- UK, Liberty-Tennessee, PapaJohns- UGA, Independence-Arkansas... USC left out in the cold

Most Likely Scenario:
Cotton-LSU, Outback-Ole Miss, Chick Fil-A- Auburn, Music City- Tennessee, Liberty- Arkansas, Independence-USC, Papajohns- UGA... UK left out in the cold.

Clemson.

Most Likely Scenario:
LSU- Cotton, Ole Miss- Outback, UGA-Chick Fil-A, Auburn-Liberty, UK-Music City, Arkansas- Independence, Tennessee-Papajohns... USC left out in the cold

UK Loses to UT and UGA
- UK finishes 6-6, 2-6
- UK finishes 5th in SEC East no matter what
SEC WEST IMPACTS
- If MSU becomes Bowl Eligible UK basically is eliminated from going to a Bowl.

MOST LIKELY SCENARIO
LSU-Cotton, Ole Miss- Outback, Auburn-Chick Fil A, UT-Liberty, UGA-Music City, Auburn-Papajohns, Arkansas-Independence
#30
IF UA Plays in BCS and Florida Loses to FSU and Bama:

Florida automatically becomes SEC's Cap One Rep

UK DEFEATS UGA AND UT
- UK finishes 2nd in the SEC East (8-4, 4-4).

MOST LIKELY SCENARIO
Cotton-LSU, Outback- Ole Miss, Chick Fil-A- UK, Music City- UT, Liberty-UGA, PapaJohns- Auburn, Independence-Arkansas... USC left out in the cold

- UK finishes 7-5, 3-5...
SEC EAST IMPACTS
- No matter what happens UK finishes 5th in the SEC East, even if they finish 7-5 and the other teams finish 6-6 because both SC and UT would own the tiebreaker on UK.

Most Likely Scenario:
Cotton-LSU, Outback-Ole Miss, Chick Fil-A- UT, Music City-UGA, Liberty- Arkansas, Independence-USC, Papajohns- Auburn... UK left out in the cold.
