Raceland toughest opponent all season. Raceland will have to play their best game all season and LCA play their worst. I won't say it's not possible. But LCA is a VERY good football team. Better than anyone in our area I'd say.

I went to the Fairview/Raceland game and Raceland defense is getting better but I am not sold on the secondary Fairview dropped alot of passes which I do not think LCA would and I think the qb for Fairview is alright the one they are going to see this friday will be the best one they see the entire year. Also I think that the line will be facing it toughest task all year and in the Fairview game you could still see the qb for Raceland still have trouble with pressure and not sure what to do with the ball. He did run the ball a couple of times for some yards that was a nice change.
I do not see Raceland staying within 3 touchdowns of LCA I do think that this game could be a running clock if they wanted to make it. The secondary will have its work cut out in this game and I do not think that they can play with the skill players from LCA.
Raceland-13
LCA-56

The Raceland-Lexington Christian Academy high school football rivalry has produced its share of big moments.
Rams coach Randy Vanderhoof hopes more memories can be made tonight when the teams play in Lexington.
âWeâre going down there to play for a district championship,â he said.
It may be the Ramsâ toughest challenge in years.
LCA coach Paul Rains is calling the Eagles the best team heâs ever coached.
âItâs definitely the best team weâve had at LCA,â he said.
Vanderhoof concurs with Rains.
âLexington Christian is a fabulous football team,â he said. âI donât know how you really describe them. Defensively they run to the ball so well and offensively I donât know if weâve seen anything like it.â
Vanderhoof compares them to some of the great northern Kentucky teams the Rams have played in past seasons.
âOverall, itâs the best LCA team weâve seen and unfortunately weâve seen a lot of good ones,â he said.
LCA (6-1) can all but lock up the district title with a victory and that would mean the possibility of the Eagles being home through the semifinals of the Class A playoffs.
If playing Raceland wasnât incentive enough, that should do it, Rains said.
âWe did that two years ago when we went to the finals,â he said.
LCA fell to Beechwood 38-35 in that classic 2007 state championship.
Last year, the Eagles rallied from a 20-3 deficit to defeat Raceland 27-20 in the state quarterfinals, spoiling the Ramsâ unbeaten season.
But the next week, Hazard surprised LCA in the semifinals.
âWe had to travel the long trip to Raceland for the regional championship in a cage-match type thing and then, the very next week, traveled to Hazard,â Rains said. âBoth teams (Raceland and LCA) were spent (after the regional). Raceland could have maybe rebounded a little better than we did.â
Vanderhoof said it has been painful watching last yearâs game this week in preparing for LCA.
âIâve looked at it a couple of times,â he said. âItâs not too fun to watch.â
Three key LCA players â Dominque Hayden, quarterback Lucas Witt and receiver Branden Burdette â are four-year starters. Hayden is three touchdowns shy of smashing the state record of 110 for a career.
Witt has thrown for 1,094 yards and 17 touchdowns with Burdette his main receiver (493 yards, 9 TDs) while Hayden has rushed for 1,279 yards and 21 touchdowns along with 262 yards receiving and four TDs.
âItâs like watching Rick Pitino-style UK basketball,â Vanderhoof said. âItâs fast, faster and fastest.â
Raceland quarterback Tyler Farley has thrown for 1,152 yards and nine touchdowns while Michael Litteral (315 yards) is the leading rusher. Loren Huffman has 427 yards receiving with five TDs.
The Rams are 5-3 and riding a four-game winning streak.
âRandy and I have a unique relationship, as do our staffs,â Rains said. âThereâs no healthier respect that two staffs could have for each other.â
Vanderhoof said heâs the only coach in the state who wouldnât mind playing LCA twice this season.
Of course, for that to happen, both teams would have to win two playoff games. The winner of tonightâs game would be the home team for the regional final.
