KABC Middle School Proposal
#1
Does anyone know if this is going to happen? Do you have any updates?
This is from their website kentuckybasketballcoaches.org

I. Kentucky middle school coaches shall be KABC associate members. The membership fee will be $15.00 per coach. The $100 per team entry fee will include the head coach's membership fee of $15.00. KABC members become eligible for KABC awards and their teams eligible for the tournament.

II. The KABC shall develop a statewide boys middle school invitational tournament. The tournament will be known as the Kentucky Middle School State Tournament.

A. The eligible grades are 6-8 and ages 11-15.

B. The state will be divided into 16 regions based on the present 16 high school regions. The 16 regional winners advance to the state finals in Frankfort.

C. The top two players in each regional tournament make up the 32 player all-state team and also make up the East/West teams that will play each other as a preliminary to the KABC East/West game in Lexington during the Sweet 16.

D. The KABC will develop a girls tournament ASAP after successfully implementing a boys tournament.

E. Proceeds from regional tournaments will be divided equally among participants after expenses. A $100 tournament fee per team will be paid to the KABC to cover all expenses and to join the middle school coach into the KABC.

F. Participating teams' state tournament expenses will be paid by the KABC.

G. Timetable: Three weeks prior to Christmas (Regionals)The week after Christmas (State Finals)

H. Host school retains 15% of gate proceeds after expenses.
Remaining money will be divided equally among all participants.

III. Rules:

A. The games will be played in 14 minute halves.

B. All other rules will mirror those set forth by the KHSAA.

IV. A KABC middle school web page will be developed to promote middle school basketball in KY

They tried last year, didn't work.

Problem being most MS have a coach for 1-3 years tops and they only want to play those as good as them, so you never get a long term commitment.

Those are also horrible times for the tourney
