Ricardo Johnson

Rico recently picked up 3 more offers:

Drake, Duquesne, and Western KY

He now holds offers from those three, as well as Bradley, Ohio, Marshall, Central Michigan, and Western Michigan.

We'll use this thread to update any other offers he receives.

I'm glad that WKU finally decided to offer.

Thats where I would personally like to see Ricardo end up.

Same here....WKU would be a great fit for him. They have really built that program down there and in state products like AJ Slaughter and Stephon Pettigrew have been key pieces to their success.

Yep, this would be where I'd like to see him end up. He would be in-state and playing in a good conference where he has a chance to get to the Big Dance yearly.

Western is absolutely going to be a contender in the tournament for the next several years.

They already have a big commit in both the 2010 and 2011 class. I would love to see Ric end up here.

Derrick Gordon from New Jersey was one of my favorite kids out on the AAU scene this year he is a SG that already has a college body. He will be a good one in 2011 assuming he doesn't decommit after being a very early commit in June this year. Also Stephon Drane who played SF on John Wall's HS team this past year is committed to WKU for 2010.
#7
He is planning a visit to WKU in the near future.
#8
By the way, with Chane Behannon transferring to Bowling Green... The rumor is of course that he is opening his commitment up b/c of WKU. I'm not saying any of that is true but that's the rumor swirling.

and that would make for an insane recruiting class of 2011 for WKU.

^I hope this is true.

College basketball is really picking up in Kentucky!

I don't think it is, but...

I saw on another site from a poster who's pretty close to the UC program that it's simply a rumor being started by one of his family members and that he is still very much committed to playing at UC....take it FWIW though....

Lol... You know I know GT. It's cool to say who it is he wouldn't care.

I agree. WKU would be a good fit for Ricardo.

Nah, before it's over, he'll probably get bigger offers than WKU, let's wait this thing out.

I don't know... Even if he does, will that necessarily make them a better fit for him?

Western is a team that has performed well in the NCAA tournament as of late and is doing it basically the same way Xavier did it. They get four year guys who may be a tier below the top recruits, but they stick it out improve dramatically and end up having some great players who have built a great chemistry over the past four years. Ricardo's game basically screams team basketball and he is perfect for this type of place. Couple that with WKU being on the rise and continuing solid recruiting classes and I really think it is a great place for him to end up. You don't want him going somewhere where they'll recruit over him or he will get overlooked and buried on the depth chart.

Good analysis and I agree.

I think Bradley is another place that could potentially be a nice fit for Rico. He could come in right away there and make an impact and they are usually one of the better teams in their conference.

Just seen this on Ric. http://www.hoopsreport.com/news/hoopsnew...ingbradley

Also Max Preps have him and Elijah in the top 100. http://www.maxpreps.com/basketball-recru...cruits.htm

Did he play in the AAU National's

Duquesne is probabily his best offer up to date and although they have struggled they could be considered a high major comming out of the Atlantic 10 conference. Some of you said that you would like to see him go to WKU but personally I'd like to see him at Central Michigan. I believe of the schools that he holds an offer from he could showcase his game and develop the most at Central Michigan. Maybe it's just me but I'd love to see him in the Gold & Maroon.

Does anyone know if Cincinnati has shown any interest??

Did anyone else notice that Florida International has two of the top 61 players from this class nationally. Isiah Thomas was a very smart hire and has signed some big time talent for a school like FL Int. He'll do great things with this program. I know its a little of subject but very interesting.

(#48 Taylor & #61 Ferguson)

From what I've heard from some pretty in the know people at UC, Ricardo is on the radar but only a little. They aren't in need of a player like Ricardo right now. They got a pretty big committment from a good power forward from Florida today. I know Ricardo is a small forward/guard or whatever, but I don't see UC being a player in this.

Ricardo is currently visiting Bradley on an official visit.

I personally think WKU is his best offer. They are a traditional power in the OVC and have recently emerged as an NCAA tournament regular. They also are starting to produce NBA talent such as Courtney Lee. With players like Ricardo Johnson and possibly Chane Behanan (if he is indeed decommitted from UC), they could really become a legit top 25 team the way Butler and Gonzaga have over the years.

Don't expect his current list of offers to be all he receives though. I expect him to get much more interest from bigger programs when the high school season starts since his former AAU coach isn't handling his recruitment anymore.

Love Ricardo but just wait bigger things will come after your season start. Plus if he wins Mr. Basketball the sky will open and a true power will come. Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State, just wait Ricardo! You are big Time Baby!

They are not in the OVC. Western is in the sun belt. Eastern is in the OVC.
