A family member of mine was out with their son and daughter yesterday evening. They were walking back to the four wheeler when her son screamed. He told her he had been biten by a snake. Of course she grabbed him but didn't see a snake. His foot in turn started swelling and turning blue. He was taken to the ER @ Pikeville where they agreed that it "looked" like a snake bite but sent him home after a couple of hours of observation with an ice pack. By this morning, his little foot and part of his leg was now swollen and the foot still black so she took him to his Dr. Immediatly he was put into the hospital! He told the ER staff what the snake looked like evidently to no avail....... He was biten by a copperhead. Please keep this baby in your prayers. He is a very active young boy but is only 6 years old! He IS doing well but prayers are an automatic healer and comfort.

Thoughts and prayers going out to him from my family. We were in the exact same situation with my grandma. If they have to send him to a different hospital, UK was wonderful.

Heavenly Father bless this child and heal him. Bless his family and give them strength and comfort that only you can give. Help us all to be found worthy of your grace. We need you and we love you. Amen

I have contacted a local minister and ask that he call others in the county to have this little boy put on a prayer chain and we all pray he gets better soon.

With the possibility of being bitten by a copperhead in this area, what hospital sends a person home who was bitten by a snake?

Pikeville Medical Center...being the same hospital that did not have the antivenom on hand to treat a copperhead bite.

He is home and doing better.... Thank you all for all your prayers. I passed them on to his mom and she was very appreciative of all your thoughts and prayers.
His foot is still a little swollen and he can't put a lot of his weight on it but he is going to be fine!!
