Coach Whitaker is a great coach and he will do great at Letcher!! Congrats and good luck !! I sure bet Powell Co. was sad to see him go. Yes, his wife is a teacher. Seems like she was at Morgan Co. at one point, but not sure where she is teaching now.

OK negative Nancy we get it, you don't like Powell County. now if you don't have anything else to say then you need to move on. There are a lot worse teams out there that you can dog all the time. I don't know who ****ed in your cheerios but its getting really old and these kids have brought the program a long way from where it was two years ago. I don't really see what is so cool about putting down a team that has done things right. You are killing everybody and I'm sure that the whole BGR community is as sick of you as I am. So bye bye now hopefully you grow up and mature I don't know to the high school level and just quite acting like a fifth grader.

How can she be employed at a school that hasn't interviewed anyone?

BB, we get it you were right. I'm happy for you, now how about talking about what is going to happen instead of how right you were....Enough already

UK is also right............If the school you are talking about is Letcher, the job has only been posted for a short time and to my knowledge the site based council has not started the interview process or will this make a difference?

Bad news for a program that was on the rise.

It won't matter what the site base council wants, Superintendent Craft rules with an iron fist and the principal won't go against her. Mike Whitaker will be the new head coach soon and his wife will be working in the system somewhere guaranteed.

Ms Craft only can limit the applications that are provided. If viable candidates are not found, then the council may ask for more.
I like Coach Whitaker, personally and professionally, but the Letcher County School System is pink slipping many certified and classified positions and these decisions may backfire on the Craft mafia. They are also looking for a new basketball coach and staff.

The AD needs to make one call; to Brandon Brewer. Offer him the job and give him what he needs to succeed. I guarantee he can get it done, and he won't leave after two seasons. What Powell needs is consistency and Brewer would provide that. Don't waste your time with anyone else.

How much experience does he have? Does he know his X's & O's? Can he get this group to believe? You know they are bummed out. Most importantly, Does he love this program? Whoever they get, they will have my complete support. No ego here. I do what needs to be done!!!!!

What they need right now is a coach with high energy and a desire to be there. If Brewer is interested, they kids can rest assured that he is in it for the long haul. The kids will love playing for him and I know the community would be behind him. His football knowledge is solid and he has had some good experience at East Carter and Montgomery County. This hire is a no brainer.

This is a sad loss for Powell Co. He seemed like a great coach when he talked to us after the game. Good luck next year Pirates I hope to play you again next year

Love playing for him? The guy is CRAZY! If a kid makes a wrong step the Hulk will more than likely come out. He will have some major roid rage going on. He'd be the worst choice EVER!!

BB, I understand money and politics all too well.......What makes me sad, is people lose sight of what is best for the kids and instead worry about how it makes them look

It is obvious that you do not know much about football or selecting coaches. Therefore, I will not reply to your feeble attempts to explain how Brewer would be a poor choice. Powell's recent coaching hires, Whitaker excluded, have been horrible. They have to get a coach that is in it for the long haul if they plan on continuing to develop the program. If not, look for a return to winning 2 or 3 games a season.

What does he coach at Montgomery? I am pretty sure he does not call the offense or defense, so his experience could be pretty limited. There is a big difference in calling plays on Monday night and Friday nights:redboxer: I am not sure I would hire a coach that had not been at least a varsity coordinator.
