Johnny Cuetoâs 2009 Reds debut bore little resemblance to his spectacular 2008 arrival. Pittsburgh rocked Cueto in a 10-2 Reds defeat before 22,276 fans Saturday afternoon at Great American Ball Park. Cueto (0-1) allowed four runs in six innings. Pittsburgh had a homer, triple and three doubles among eight hits as the Pirates teed off on the hard-throwing right-hander. Cueto did strike out nine but was lifted after throwing 109 pitches.
Cueto electrified Reds fans with his 2008 rookie debut when he beat Arizona with a seven-inning, one-run, one-hit, 10-strikeout effort.

YEAH!!!!!!! Pirates start out 3-2 on the road!! WAY TO GO BUCS!!! They had their way with Cueto, and Maholm had another solid outing. It would be freakin awesome if the Buccos could sustain this kind of play all year. Now, if only Andy LaRoche could get one lousy hit and break out of this horrible slump! Good job Bucs!

Reds are not progressing with the start of a new year. I know that this team has potenial but they have to start hitting at some point. Votto and Phillips are the only ones hitting and a player like Bruce will not slump very long. They need to turn it around or they will be out of the race right as it begins.
