This is a great thing you guys are doing for these kids!

Thanks for all of the positive comments. I hope the kid in all of us really enjoys this event. It will take a lot of hard work from a lot of people to pull this off but I know it can be done. I was told the idea of me having the boys & girls hoopfest was crazy and I couldn't pull it off but if you attended any of those events over the last two seasons you would know that it was worth every minute of the time spent to put it on. The kids got to see and play kids that they normally wouldn't get to compete against. I had teams from as far away as Huntington, WV., Florence, Ky., Whitley County and just about every school in Floyd and Pike County compete and I couldn't have ask for anything to go as smoothly as those events did. This will be the first time that I can remember anything like this being put on in our area. When I was approached with this idea I thought it was a wonderful idea and a great way to give the kids a place to showcase their talents. The individual competitions should really be a lot of fun. During these competitions the kids not performing will be sitting around the walls and hopefully showing support to their fellow competitors. Jump up, give a high five, swing that towel around showing support when someone nails consecutive three point shots. I think the atmosphere will be great. What everyone really needs to remember is this event is being put on for the kids and remember that the individual competitions are open to any and all Eastern Ky middle school basketball players. I hope everyone has a great time.
Thanks

What A FUN NIGHT
Congrats go Jarron Hall(spelling) from Wesley Christian Christian for winning the 6th and below shootout.
final four in this division
Kory Stephens from BL - Sprained ankle during shoot around and still finished second
JR Tackett from South Floyd - most impressive 3rd grader in the state not just East KY.
Subash Gutti from MCA-led the entire event. came up just a little short in the final four.
TJ Tackett from John M. Stumbo won the girls three point shoot out. will return tomorrow night to face the winner of the boys division. Congrats TJ, your a player
Timera Thacker won the girls hot spot competition and will return to face the boys winner tomorrow night. I have had the pleasure of coaching this young lady and I really feel you will watch this young lady playing major college basketball .
Don't have all of the boys finalist tomorrow night but
I"m going to name a few that show just how much this event helps
Biggest and most pleasant surprise of the night
Owen Caudill from Adams Middle School, this kid was a role player for Adams this year and he led after the first round of the boys 3 point contest and was among the top leaders after two rounds
Evan Tackett - Virgie, this kid is a player, returns tomorrow night for the finals of the 3 point contest
Stephen Goble - Who says big men can't shoot, had to win his way into the final eight of the 3 point contest in a shootoff. wow wow wow, i'd love to be the ACHS coach and see him coming up.
Peyton Case from BL had a dominating round of Hot Spot
followed by Dylan Hamilton from BL and
Matthew Ison from Mountain Christian
I think the final four of the big man competition are
Dylan Hamilton
Peyton Case
Tyler Daniels
Cory Thornsbury
Thanks to all the coaches that helped out tonight. This couldn't have been done without you.
Please remember that this was done for the kids. Forget all the politics and rules that are set forth and remember we need to be positive role models for our youth.
We need to give the kids a place to be kids. Life comes at us to fast the way it is and these young men and women need to enjoy their youth.
This was the first time I have ever been at an event and seen so many kids from so many teams that had no idea who they played for. There was 60 plus kids on the same team and if you didn't see it you missed a great night.
Thanks
